p.s. I laughed when I read your post but you know, it is true. My libido could use some pepping up too. Kind of hard when you're big. Agility? Definite possibility to look forward to. Acrobatics? Hmmm...I think Mr. Ski would be scared.

Re: How do you resist the urge to cheat?

Last night was Halloween. It was hard. There was the candy we were passing out. The candy my son brought home in his bag... and the pumpkin cookies we baked that night. I stared at it. I could smell it. But I wasn't allowed to touch it or eat it.

That's all I tell myself. 'I'm not allowed' I'm not allowed to do drugs. I'm not allowed to rob a bank. and I'm not allowed to cheat on my diet... it's just the way it is.

Bad things happen when I cheat... so I don't cheat... I was rewarded with a loss of a pound this morning. It's rare to lose, so I was doubly happy that I didn't cheat.

I am laughing my arse off at you guys!!!! But, I swear it's true!!! Here's my frame of reference though. I weighed oh, probably 30 lbs or so more when I first began "playing the piano." This is my first chance to perform a recital at this weight. I AM LOVIN' IT!! So, mark your calendars. Next concert is next Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That is, if his non-ketosis arse can keep up but I have solutions for that too. If ya don't hear too much outta me next weekend....well, that's good news!!! Can't wait!!

Re: How do you resist the urge to cheat?

I was thinking about this very thing as I was cooking my restart Induction breakfast. I was looking at the sacks of candy my kids had brought home from Halloween, wondering exactly how I was going to resist dipping my hand in there.

You know what? That candy will still be there once I've lost all the weight I want to. If I do decide I want a piece of candy once I've lost the weight, well then, I'll go right ahead and have one. BUT. Not right now. Not until I've lost all the weight I want to. And by the time I do, I know the chances of me actually wanting to throw away all that effort on a useless little piece of candy are going to be very very slim.

I guess for me, my brain really hates being told "You're not allowed." It does respond beautifully though to "Not right now, maybe another time."

So, when those moments come that I want to cheat, the answer is "Not right now, maybe another time" and I find something legal that I CAN have.

Re: How do you resist the urge to cheat?

I had an ultimate test of willpower yesterday.

I am 6 days into a clean induction. Yesterday, my boyfriend takes me out to a movie. I'm normally a big fanatic of movie popcorn. Its the only time I ever eat popcorn. But now its off limits. So I sucked on my water during the movie.

After the movie, we walk past the Cheesecake Factory on the way out of the mall. His daughter had never been and he looks and asks me if I can have cheesecake. Not realizing that he meant he wanted to GO there I said yes, but it has to be modified. Well, he took that to mean yes and into the restaurant we went. While they enjoyed 2 heavenly looking slices of cheese cake (He had Dulce De Leche and she had Choco Chip Cookie Dough) I had a sirloin burger with a small salad. Sigh... I am SO making Atkins safe cheesecake after induction!!!

Re: How do you resist the urge to cheat?

                  Hmm...

I would say, and I think many would agree, that the first three days are probably the most challenging on the diet. This is when your body is burning off the rest of it's glucose storage, so your blood sugar is always jumping around, and that just makes it easier to cheat. I cannot express enough that once you get past that point, each passing day it just gets easier and easier. Eventually you just don't care about the other foods anymore.

I had someone eat a chocolate muffin next to me the other day, and I didn't feel the slightest bit tempted to get one myself. There isn't really any one method that works for everyone. Some people like to look at older photos of when they were thin, or ones of recent where they look very heavy in the picture. Some thrive on comments given to them by others when they say they look great.

Once you get a week or two in, you'll see you've lost 8-15 pounds and you will see it works just fine, and the next time you see that food. You'll want to remember how much time and effort it took for you to lose what you already have, do you really want to throw that down the drain for something thats gonna only satisfy you until the sugar rush/crash comes down? Trust me, you'll feel like crap afterwards so it's not worth it. Also if you're tempted by a certain food, than look for a low-carb version of it (make sure the ingredients are acceptable for your phase), and make it.

Mine is personally Pizza, as I was a HUGE pizza fan. I found Linda's Low Carb Deep Dish recipe, and made it one night and it really hit the spot. Just be careful when doing it, because Pizza is probably considered a "trigger food" for me, so I do make sure I eat it only in moderation and every once in a while.

Re: How do you resist the urge to cheat?

I resist the urge to cheat by telling myself that I have come this far and should focus on the next goal not give in to carbs.I also visualise myself at 283lb in my head and that does the trick also. The last thing is I remember how much I want to be a size 10 one day and that keeps me determined. Its all about willpower and taking control.

you guys are super inspiring really.
I really hope I have the will power you guys do.
Today I ate whatever I wanted. I know that's the worse excuse to do it - that I'm starting induction tomorrow. But I did it and I just have to hope that tomorrow I will stick to it!
i keep telling myself I'm tired of failing only to do it over and over. I am DECIDING this is it. Seriously I can't keep trying I have to DO IT. otherwise what's the point!

so i'll come here often to get more motivation from you all because it really helps!
