  • Diet Sodas

Hi, Guys, I'm fairly new here, but I'm pretty sure that I introduced myself during the first day or so.
Anyway, I'm writing about diet sodas. Once upon a time my favorite drink was Diet Mountain Dew. Let's face it, I was probably addicted to that Dew stuff. But when I started this low carb lifestyle, one of the first things I read was that aspartame was super bad for you, plus, I read that Dr. Atkins allows Splenda but not aspartame, and once I learned that, it seemed to be in every drink I picked up. But finally I found a diet soda with Splenda in it instead of Aspartame. It's diet Cheerwine, which I loved as a teen. I'm not sure how many states have Cheerwine, but I live in NC, and it's been here all my life. I read that Cheerwine can now be found as far west as Texas and as far north as New York, and may soon be nationwide. I bought a six pack today, and it's just as delicious as it was 20 years ago.

Don't believe in luck, so, Good Life to ya.

There's still a limit of 3 servings of sweetener per day, it's still not water, and it's still not good for you!

make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water everyday -- then you can have whatever you want - if you haven't already, you should read the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) so you have a good grasp of the plan, why it works, how it works --- in the long run it will make things easier for you.

As long as you continue to drink soda you are feeding your sweet tooth -- the sooner you kill it off the better you'll be. I use to drink 3 - 5 Diet Rite soda's daily but once I started Atkins and started drinking water I don't have time (or the inclination) to drink soda anymore.

        Re: Diet Sodas

Hi, Carole, and thanks for that reply. Actually, I always drink water all day long. I opened the diet soda around 5 PM yesterday, and ended up drinking only a little over half of it. But it was still enjoyable, and satisfied the nagging fact that I hadn't had any diet sodas at all for three weeks.
