  • after effects?

    Hi all,

I have decided to try atkins over the next 6 months. I was approved for a gastric bypass, but now am not so sure....... ok, all of that was totally off topic. My actual question is this....Is there as much excess skin after atkins as there is after WLS?

    WLS
I am guessing WLS is Weight Lost Surgery and not weight lost sleeping

OK I have no clue. I really don't think the method is going to make much difference on the skin. It will depend on how much you have to lose, your age, elasticity of your skin, your toning and exercise.

I may have a bit of excess skin but it is not a big issue because I can walk (perhaps even run) up stairs without getting asthma these days.

I believe the faster and larger amount you lose helps contribute to this. Your skin doesn't have as much time to react to the sudden change. That being said, everyone is different. Age also plays a difference. The younger you are, the faster you heal. As you get older, your skin gets thinner and loses it elasticity. Some people can lose a large amount of weight and only see stretch marks, and other people will see loose skin.
