  • can not eating enough slow and/or stall weight loss??

    Hi all,

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but can not eating enough slow or stall weight loss?

The reason I ask is I know we should eat regularily and never go without eating for 6hours or more, but information is rather vague on quantities, I have been given maximum amounts of carbs, and max amounts of cheese, ect.

But I want to know whats the minimum amount?

Should we have 6 meals or 6 snacks?

I'm presuming its dependent on the person, but just wonderd if eating to little is a staller?

    thanks

(On a side note, I asked my doctor about atkins today, just ensuring he knows I'm on it, what advise he had, ect. I was expecting him to tell me the usual bad things you hear everybody saying, but to my surprise he recommended the diet, said he'd lost 14Kgs on it himself, that Atkins is basically correct apart from a few minor confusions in his book, so there you have it Atkins is recommended by doctors!)

    Yes.

As can not drinking enough water.

Undereating, both in carbs or calories is counter-productive with Atkins.

If you don't eat enough calories, your body can go into starvation mode - your body "fears" that it isn't going to get enough food, so it "holds on" to fat to avoid starving.

There are "calorie calculators" out there...but take their info with a grain of salt...everyone is different. Also, your body needs more food some days than others. Dr. Atkins recommends eating when hungry & stopping eating when no longer hungry - before you get full or stuffed. That is what I do.

Here is one example of a calorie counter. It is generally agreed that 500 calories less than the "calories required to maintain" will allow you to lose about 1lb per week. Extra exercise will usually up that number
Calorie Calculator | Weight Loss Calculator

Please ignore the "days to reach goal weight" box on that calculator...everybody loses at a different pace. Your body will do what it does. If you do the diet (WOE) correctly, and exercise, you will lose

I think for me it has been important to establish regular meals where I eat good and real food with fats, protein and some carbs. I think I personally had become a grazer and I really ate all the time. Eating meals where I do not stuff myself but where I get full is good. And I have tried to stick with this into maintaining.

If I get hungry and snacks are needed I do have some.

But yes you should not let it go more than 6 hours between meals.
