So, I've been doing the extended induction phase for a few weeks and I've dropped 19 lbs. It's great. I've become more active and started lifting weights again. My only problem is that even after losing almost 20lbs. I have yet to lose a single inch. None of my clothes fit any different and nobody seems to notice the loss. I work with a buddy who has also been on the diet and only lost 12lbs and everybody is raving about the little differences they see in him. It's got me a little down. Other than more exercise is there anything I can do to maybe lose inches quicker? Thanks people.

    Re: Odd.

Hmmmm, you often hear of things being the opposite (losing no weight but losing inches). Perhaps your body is holding onto water weight or bloating in response to something you are eating. If you aren't getting a lot of water I'd recommend drinking LOTS, like 100 ounces a day.

Exercise will definitely help, but keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat so weight could fluxuate.

Are you drinking diet sodas? Lots of sweeteners? What does a typical day's menu look like? Perhaps the problem is in the diet somewhere...

Or it could be your body is being stubborn and you'll have to wait it out.

I'm thinking that your fat is more dense and your friends is softer. Hope that made sense (it did to me! LOL). I would keep doing what you're doing and remember not to compare yourself to anyone else. Even two people the same age, height, gender, starting weight will lose pounds and inches at different rates.

You probably have a lot of visceral fat.

Where are you measuring? I like the way FitDay has me measure basically head to toe: neck, bicep, forearm, chest, waist, hips, thighs, calves. It's possible if you're used to wearing baggy clothes it's hard for your loved ones to see the difference. I know I've never been one to wear clingy clothing that would show off curves that come in the form of rolls of fat...

Do keep up the exercise and add resistance weight as you are able to handle it without injury or strain. Muscle burns calories much faster than flab, a really awesome metabolic boost. Also don't forget to drink your water. It's indispensible to flush out all that yuck every day. Eat your veggies, make sure the majority of your calories come from veggies.

And keep up the great work. It's awesome to hear success stories like this!

... she means, of course, make sure the majority of your net carbs come from veggies

The measuring every part (almost) sounds like a great idea.

              Re: Odd.

I would guess you are losing fat from places that are not as noticeable...
such as visceral fat, as Norman mentioned.

The first places I lost inches as I recall was my wrists, forearms, and calves... hardly places that show up much in clothes (appearance, or in how they fit).

I wouldn't worry about it - it will show up soon enough. In any case, you know 19 pounds has disappeared from SOMEwhere, whether you can tell where yet or not.

                Re: Odd.

My immediate thoughts were the same as Norman and aways2go - you are maybe losing that pesky visceral fat or from the other places like wrists, fingers, feet etc.

I was surprised after a few months of Atkineering to find I needed to go to smaller shoes - who knew I had fat feet? Also I have lost a hat size too, as well as having to have all my rings resized.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
