  • OWLS is fun! :)

Well, upon recommendation to continue moving up the ladder despite lack of progress, I have been. Still no miracle weight loss, but it's fun.

I'm moving towards pre-maintenance/maintenance for pregnancy. We're not trying yet, but soon, and I want to be eating more fruits and veggies by then.

I don't think the weight loss is going to come until I am more balanced hormonally, but hopefully that's soon. My thyroid med formula changed and it took several months to find a different brand I like. So far, so good, but it's only been a week so I'm trying to be patient. I only have 5-10 more lbs to lose so I know it will be slow and exercise is likely the more important thing. I'm trying to do as much as I can, but I have to go slow or I get sick.

Anyway, I may not be losing (which sucks), but I don't think I'm gaining. I try not to weigh often so I might have gained a little. Trying hard just to focus on eating well and the exercise instead of the scale...especially since exercise tends to make me gain water weight and then muscle.

OWLS is fun because of more food choices. For breakfast I had a blueberry crepe, 2 slices of bacon, and a slice of coconut bread with butter. YUM! I felt like I was cheating! It was soo good and filling and totally legit.

Coconut bread (eggs, butter, coconut flour)
Crepe roll (1 egg, 2 oz cream cheese, sprinkle of cinnamon)
Crepe filling (1 T mascarpone cheese, less than 1/8 cup blueberries)

    YUMMY!

I hope the weight loss comes soon...just a little anyway. At this point, I'd love to lose 3 lbs and then just tighten everything up and lose some blub which is probably best achieved by exercise.

I don't plan to incorporate grains, beans, or alcohol back in so besides adding some corn or high starch veggies, I'm almost there. I may add oatmeal or potatoes in very small amounts, but we'll see. No pasta or breads or rice though.

    Thanks for reading.

It is good to hear you are enjoying the wider choice that OWL gives you once you get to the 3rd and 4th rungs.

I love OWL. It is where we should be most of our journey.
You are so brave for hanging in there. What a girl. You really deserve that whoosh and I think it will come.
And good luck when you get ready to try for a baby again. Such a beautiful goal.

          Re: OWLS is fun!

Thanks! I changed my status...totally forgot about that.

Thanks Liv. I do hope I have a whoosh soon. I really am eating very well with no cheats unless you count the few shredded carrots that were in my salad last night, but I picked around them for the most part. Yummy breakfast again this morning...same thing as yesterday.

DH and I are going on a bike ride this morning. I also think I'm up to starting the elliptical again. That should help. I just need to remember to take a stress dose of my adrenal meds. I exercised on Tuesday because I felt really good and didn't stress dose (I take hydrocortisone because I don't make enough of my own cortisol) and I felt lousy on Wednesday. It's all so tricky...and annoying. If I were a "normal" person, I seriously would be so thin you wouldn't see me if I turned sideways...I'm just very vigilant about diets/WOL/exercise stuff so it's frustrating when there results aren't there. Oh well. Most important thing is just to be healthy and focus on that...then the weight loss should come.

          Thanks for the support.
