  • BROCALLI!!! Is that the culprit???

Hi everyone. I am currently on week 4 of this WOE. And I love it. My first week I lost 8 pounds, 2nd week 4 and 3rd only 1. What happened???? Well, eat my eggs in the morning, sometimes with mushrooms, sometimes with jalapeno and tomatoe and onion, sometimes with bacon... lunch usually a chicken ceasar salad or some meat with vegetables, for dinner, ususally meat with vegetbles. I rarely eat cheese or sour cream. I have a decaff in the morning with 3 splenda and I drink and average of 100oz of water a day... no soda ever.

Well, my vegetables only consist of.... green beans; brocalli; cauliflower; cabbage, lettuce or romain...etc. you get the point. but my main vegetable intake is grean beans or brocalli. 2-3 cups of it per day.

I did the Fit Day and it says that 2 cups brocalli equals 15 carbs... wtf??? So that alone will put me at 75% of my 20c allowed daily. Could it be that I am consuming too much brocalli?

Or i this where the walls slow me down?

Are you measuring broccoli raw? All veggies should be measured raw whenever possible.

Are you entering broccoli raw in FitDay? It's better to enter all veggies raw.

Are you counting net carbs for broccoli or total carbs? We count net carbs on Atkins, not total carbs.

Oh, and weighing is more accurate than fitting things like broccoli in a cup.

You are only allowed one cup of vegetables from the other list - so on induction you cannot eat more than one cup of broccoli and if you choose to eat a cup of broccoli you cannot have any cabbage or onion or cauliflower or tomato.

And remember we do net carb so it is carbs minus the fiber.

Well you can't expect to continue to lose at that rate throughout your weight loss journey. It's just not going to happen!!! Your weight removal rate is going to slow down from 4-8lbs a week to a more normal 1-3lbs a week or so. Some weeks more, some weeks less.

          Hang in there.

And some weeks, none! Brook raises a great point. Please don't set yourself up for disappointment. I managed to lose 62 pounds in just under nine months, and I averaged a loss of between 1 and 2 pounds a week. That's means some weeks I lost 2, some weeks I lost 1, and some weeks I lost none. But those losses surely did add up!

Yep, Brook and Mitziemarie are telling you the truth. Your losses will slow down and sometimes just not happen. Stick to the program and your body will eventually move along when it is ready.

I usually measure my veggies in a cup. I would like to purchase a scale but what kind of scale should I be looking for? So will it weigh it and tell you 1 cup or 8 oz? Or how many oz in a cup? I fogot

                  Salad Vegetables
You can have two to three cups per day of:

                  alfalfa sprouts
                  daikon
                  mushrooms
                  arugula
                  endive
                  parsley
                  bok choy
                  escarole
                  peppers
                  celery
                  fennel
                  radicchio
                  chicory
                  jicama
                  radishes
                  chives
                  lettuce
                  romaine lettuce
                  cucumber
                  mache
                  sorrel
These salad vegetables are high in phytonutrients and provide a good source of fiber.

                  Other Vegetables
You can have one cup per day of these veggies if salad does not exceed two cups. The following vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables:

                  artichoke
                  celery root
                  pumpkin
                  artichoke hearts
                  rhubarb
                  asparagus
                  chard
                  sauerkraut
                  bamboo shoots
                  collard greens
                  scallions
                  dandelion
                  snow peas
                  bean sprouts
                  dandelion greens
                  spaghetti squash
                  beet greens
                  eggplant
                  spinach
                  broccoli
                  hearts of palm
                  string or wax beans
                  broccoli rabe
                  kale
                  summer squash
                  brussels
                  kohlrabi
                  tomato
                  bean sprouts
                  leeks
                  turnips
                  cabbage
                  okra
                  water chestnuts
                  cauliflower
                  onion
                  zucchini
If a vegetable, such as spinach or tomato, cooks down significantly, it must be measured raw so as not to underestimate its carb count.

                    Hey Lady,
This is from the ADBB FAQ-When you weigh, as Georgiana said, it is more accurate. This lists mosts veggies and other foods, and gives their
Equivalent such as 1/2 c broccoli = 44 grams (of weight on the scale). I printed out a few copies to have handy and use it daily. Hope it helps.

Yes, that list is AWESOME! I've printed it out, and use it all of the time. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...CARB_COUNT.pdf

Food scale - I have been managing with just an inexpensive one from Walmart. I think I paid about $6.00 for it. Sure, there are some deluxe ones out there that can cost big, and I'd love to have one. But I can't afford anything but bare minimum, and it's been working just fine for me.

If you are going to spend money for a scale, be sure you get one that allows you to reset the weight to zero and then add more food. This is invaluable for measuring the ingredients in a recipe - or the different veggies in your salad. Also, get one with a big enough platform to hold a fairly good sized bowl without obstructing the numbers. I think almost all digital scales convert between measuring in oz/lbs and gm/kg, which is also handy.
