The Advil will be fine and the best thing for the sweet tooth during your cycle is to shut it down and break it once and for all. I will admit that the chocolate cravings still occasionally come to me during "that time" but a legal Rung three cocoa dessert will usually do the trick and that is only necessary once or twice a year.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Yeah - tell me about it.
But work it out. You know this is going to happen every month so you need to get your strategy in. We over weight people are very good at jumping on any excuse we can yo over-eat. Don't let this be one of those times. Like Jill I have found legal little tricks to work my way through it. A bit of cocoa for me often does the trick.
There are some good teas out there which do not need sugar in my opinion. Like Celestial Dessert Teas. Those are very helpful.
      hang in there.

Now that I've started to workout more often I will tell you that I've noticed that I don't have cramps or pain like I used to....maybe it is the exercise...It makes a difference....

Though some people do feel that cocoa can be used on induction, they are doing so by thinking of it as being a spice - and so allowed in very tiny amounts like you would add spices to a recipe.

To use unsweetened cocoa in any quantity you need to have reached the nuts/seeds level or rung of the second phase of Atkins, ongoing weight loss aka OWL.

Liv is at the higher OWL rungs (not on induction) so can use it 'legally'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Stash Teas has a wonderful white tea, called winter wonderland--all ginger and cinnamon-y. It's fantastic by istelf, but you can sweeten it with Splenda.

If I want chocolate, I sprinkle some unsweetened cocoa into my coffee--just a pinch. I use cream and spenda in my coffee, so adding the cocoa gives it a chocolate smell and works pretty well.

When it was TOM, and it was either eat chocoalte or kill someone, I would get a sugar-free Hershey Dark square (1-inch) and eat that 3 molecules at a time, with hot tea. That also worked. One square was 1.5 carbs.

Since my surgery, I do not have "visits from the General" anymore, and do not crave chocolate nearly as much.

                Remember, cocoa isn't Induction legal.

You may want to visit www.chocoperfection.com. It sells sugar free chocolate bars sweetened with maltitol that have fiber and chicory in them. They are really good-they also have the livinlavidalowcarb raspberry chocolate bar on there by Jimmy Moore-I have had it and it is really good. You may want to use these bars before and during TOM.

They are not sweetened with maltitol, but with erythritol and oligofructose.

The bars are not appropriate for the Induction phase though.

Playtime, for a tea that is naturally sweet, you might want to try cinnamon tea: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...lly-sweet.html

I never thought of sugar as being something that would take away pain... maybe emotional pain...

Maybe you can try some whipped cream with a little splenda and cocoa to take the edge off? Just count the carbs...

And Advil. And a long hot soak in the tub. In fact if you're a member of a health club a long soak in the hot tub can be just the thing. Also, getting out for some sunshine and fresh air always improves my spirits even when I'm in that nuke-the-world mood.
