  • So I Fell Off the Wagon...

I had an exceptionally bad day today. I reacted when I saw a soft pretzel for the taking. As I usually do when I get down, I ate something that was on the forbidden list.

I suppose it is not realistic to never expect to touch a piece of bread again BUT I am having a lot of remorse and I guess I am looking for some support (or a kick in the A*S!)

Most of us have our bad days. What's important is that we recognize when we've made a bad choice and do our best to avoid the situation in the future.

Stay focused on your goals and imagine how good 200lbs will feel.

      Hi Bocajoes:

Everyone has bad days and, of course, good days. Just stick to your plans and goals and you will surpass them. I started near your weight and you will surpass your goals.

      Take care.

I am sorry to hear you had a bad day and succumbed to your old habits

I am glad you did not continue to eat offplan after the pretzel and so will not scold you, but you do need to work out a new 'habit' of not eating offplan when you feel down.

Working out a strategy now to enable you to stick to your chosen way of eating might help you next time. So take a hard look at what else you could have done rather than eat that pretzel so you will be prepared with some other way of coping in the future.

          Change the "usual".

If you must eat, then at least eat something that's "on plan".

And... I don't think there is a "forbidden list". You can eat whatever you want... nothing is "forbidden". It's what you choose to eat that matters.

I suppose it is not realistic to never expect to touch a piece of bread again
You're right... it isn't. You can touch bread even in Induction. Just don't eat it.

Seriously though, some people can add back bread in OWL Rung 9, Pre-Maintenance or Maintenance. In OWL Rung 3 you can make bread from nut flours.

Okay, I'm a cheater. Took me twice as long to get here as it did others but I persisted and here I am. Emotional eating will set you back and is something you need to work on. When I cheat its because its something I really want and would feel really bad about not having, or missing out on. Gradually, I started making better choices for myself on and off plan. I just got tired of gaining all the water weight, going another week and just breaking even and feeling down about it. Keep at it, and those foods are gonna loose their appeal. You won't think a pretzel is God's gift to the world forever! Do the best you can, strive to do better and better and you will get where you want to be! You'll have endless opportunities to make good choices for yourself. These choices will mold and shape your body. Now what shape you end up will depend on these choices! So make a lot of good ones, and you'll see results.

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

            1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
            2nd mini goal: 140!
            3rd mini goal:135!
            4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

I want to use a word I learned yesterday ...
Don't catastophize !!!! I learned it from Judith Beck book on dieting. I loved it.

She says we use all kinds of excuses to eat and even falling of the wagon becomes an excuse to eat So her advice is : DO NOT CATASTROPHIZE
I like it. It is my motto for today.
