  • I have found heaven...

i HAVE MADE THE GREATEST DISCOVERY TODAY.... YEA ME!!! sO i DIDN'T BRING MY LUNCH TO WORK TODAY, SO i WAS GOING TO RUN DOWN THE STREET TO GET A CHICKEN CEASAR SALAD. wELL ON MY WAY, I SAY ANOTHER RESTAURANT BUFFET TYPE AND DECIDED TO GO IN TO SEE WHAT THEY HAVE.

sO I SCOPED THE COUNTERS AND SAW WHITE RICE AND CORN, SOME FETUCCINI, SOME BBQ, ETC... KEPT WALKING KEPT WALKING THEN I SAW GREEN BEANS, SPINACH, CABBAGE, SOME GRILLED CHICKEN, SOME ROASTED CHICKEN, SOME FRIED SHRIMP... OH MY. SO I JUMPED TO THE NEXT COUNTER AND SAW CHICKEN SALAD, TUNA SALAD, LETUCES AND RAW VEGETABLES, SOME BOILED EGGS, SOME JELLO-S. WELL U GET THE POINT. i ASKED ONE OF THE WORKERS THERE HOW THEY PREPARED THE GREEN BEANS AND ROASTED CHICKEN. GREEN BEANS SAUTED IN BUTTER SO I GOT ME A FEW OF THOSE (COULDN'T MEASURE BUT I ONLY DID ABOUT 15 STRINGS; THE CHICKEN SEASONED AND ROASTED SO I GOT ME A THIGH AND LEG... A SLICE OF FRESH AVOCADO AND THE BEST TREAT OF ALL THAT i FOUND, ALL FRESH COOKED SHRIMP, SCALLIONS, DICED TOMATO, CILANTRO, JALAPENO, SEASONED WITH SALT AND LEMON JUICE. aAAAWWWWW. AND IT WAS SO GOOD. I DIDN'T MEASURE CUZ I PICKED OFF MOST OF THE TOMATO BUT THE SHRIMP AND SCALLION WAS SO GOOD. I ATE IT AS A SIDE SO ALL TOGETHER WAS ABOUT 1 CUP. I STAYED AWAY FROM ALL THE PASTAS AND RICES AND EVEN THE GRILLED CHICKEN CUZ IT HAD SOME KIND OF GRAVY SO I AVOIDED THAT. BUT ALL IN ALL, IT SEEMED ACCEPTABLE. i WON'T EAT IT EVERYDAY, CUZ i HAVE BEEN GOOD IN BRINGING MY LUNCH EVERYDAY, BUT TODAY I DIDN'T HAVE A CHANCE TO PREPARE IT LAST NIGHT.. BUT THIS PLACE CAN BE A LAST ALTERNATIVE.

I wonder if by "butter", they mean "real" butter ... some people think margarine is butter.

As to the tuna/chicken salad ... most commercial versions of these are full of sugar. Check at the grocery store next time! And you don't know what kind of mayonnaise they're using ... some commercial mayonnaise has a lot more sugar.

I'm due to go out and eat one day. There is a steak place here I can eat at. Its sometimes just great to have something on plan that you didn't have to cook! I have to avoid most places cause I can't resist something I shouldn't have. But once in awhile, I manage to go and do good. Congrats on staying on plan!

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

      1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
      2nd mini goal: 140!
      3rd mini goal:135!
      4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

She seamed sure it was butter after she came back from checking in the kitchen. as for the tuna/chicken salad... that is why I stayed away from it. I opted more for fresh.

celeste... i know i am so glad i found this place. too bad it is close to my work and not home. i have to find a plce like this closer to him... i don't want to get tired of salds when everyone else is having brugers and shakes. and thank you.

          Re: I have found heaven...

There is a steak place near my house that I can't afford very often...but they have lunchtime prime rib, 6 oz, with unlimited salad bar--which has spinach, garden and caesar salad, plus giant hunks of cheese, whole olives, real bacon bits, etc. The best part is that the acrby stuff is all down at one end. All the macaroni/rice/tater stuff all in one place (plus pudding). So I don't even have to see that stuff and get tempted.
Lunch there costs about $12. So I go with my MIL a few times a year.

There is also a Wing Stop nearby--and they have chicken tenders that aren't breaded. You can get 6 big strips with lemon pepper, green chile or regular hot sauce, for about $5.
It makes life easier. I always bring my lunch, because lunch time at school is not long enough to go out. But I love to pick up some of those strips and make a big salad or some squash/red peppers and cheese for dinner.

            Hey there Lady_Buttmunch,

If you don't mind saying...what is the name of the restaurant and where is it? I am from Illinois. It is hard to find a buffet with any healthy choices.

            Thanks!

              Nice!!!!
It is so great to have options like that around.
I am looking forward to the new restaurant opening almost next door here. It is a sushi restaurant but they also will have sashimi and barbecue - hopefully there will be something legal there for me.
