  • ive got the cold :( some help

whats best things to eat and still be on atkins? while you have the cold?

ive got a chesty cough also, tbh i had a few boiled eggs with some cheese in the morning but didnt really feel like eating it.

im still drinking litres and litres of water, does it do you any harm if you eat under 20 grams of carbs because i really dont think im going to have that much to eat while i feel like this.

    just stick to induction food?

If you can puree some cooked meat/veg and add cream/butter plus some water to get the consistency you like you can easily get your induction food turned into soup which might be easier to get down.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I like this soup: CHUNKY CHICKEN & VEGETABLE SOUP II
      1 tablespoon oil
      1 tablespoon butter
2 boneless chicken breasts, cubed, 10-12 ounces
1/2 cup celery, chopped, 2 small stalks
2 chayote squash, peeled, seeded and cubed
4 medium fresh mushrooms, sliced, 4 ounces
      1/4 cup onion, chopped, 1 1/4 ounces
2 cans chicken broth or 4 cups homemade broth
      1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules
      1/2 cup water
      2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
      1/4 teaspoon pepper
      Salt, to taste
      2 tablespoons heavy cream, optional

Heat the oil and butter in a 4-6 quart soup pot over medium heat. Add the chicken; cook and stir 4-5 minutes or just until no longer pink. Add all of the vegetables. Cook and stir 7 minutes. Add the broth, bouillon, water, parsley, pepper and salt. Simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Add the cream, if desired.

      Makes 6 servings
      Can be frozen

I put zucchini in instead of chayote squash and add 1 tsp garlic and 1/2 tsp oregano. Fast and tasty soup.

I made thai chicken soup over the weekend - it's spicy and nutritious. I can give you the recipe when I get home if you'd like.

Homemade broths...not only are they comforting because they are warm and tastey, but they cooking process of your bones actually helps leech out important vitamins and minerals. My personal favourite is chicken bones to make the broth from. I love that some of the fat that's still left on the bones really mixes well into the broth (when it's cooled it kind of gelatinizes on the top, but the warming process mixes it all back together). I add some sea salt or kosher salt to mine (I don't use regular table salt at all for anything) for some flavour. Once you get it all cooked up, you'll have plenty to keep you going for awhile too. I know it's a pain to have to cook something down like that, but really the only difficult part is straining out the bones when you're ready to start having it.

Re: ive got the cold some help

                here it is:

                Thai Chicken Soup

                1 quart chicken broth
                1lb bonesless, skinless chicken breast
                1T lemon juice
                1T lime juice
                2T grated gingerroot
                1/2c coconut milk
                8 scallions
                2t chili paste
                1t fish sauce
3T chopped fresh cilantro (i don't do this, i hate the stuff)

In a big, heavy saucepan, start heating the chicken broth while you cut the chicken breast into small cubes or thin strips. Throw your cut-up chicken into the pot, along with the lemon juice, lime juice and ginger. Let the whole thing simmer for 20 minutes.

Stir in the coconut milk and scallions, and let it cook another 10 minutes or so.

Stir in the chili garlic paste and fish sauce. Ladle into bowls, top each serving with chopped cilantro, and serve.

                Yield: 3 to 4 servings

Assuming 4, each will have: 260 calories; 12g fat; 32g protein; 6g carbohydrate; 2g dietary fiberr; 4g usable carbs.
