          Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

I had to go for a second mammogram, and ultrasound today. The one from 2 weeks ago was suspicious. I have been going crazy for 2 weeks with worry. But after the two tests today, they immediately told me everything is ok!!!! Thank God!

MY POINTS IS----In the past, that sort of news and having to wait 2 weeks for the new test------would have sent me straight into NON STOP Junkfood ****! Which I probably would take months to recover from!!! What did I do? Not one cheat! And the "good news" I got today after the tests ----in the past---that would have been a great reason to celebrate and cheat as well!

Yesterday me and my family spent the entire day at the hospital, and my Dad died after a short illness. I was away from home from 6 am until 11pm. Did I cheat???? NO WAY!!! NO EXCUSES!

No offense to Chemobabymomma, but if I got through those two things, I am sure not gonna let a little thing like Thanksgiving make me cheat! NO WAY! It takes too long to crawl back on plan.

Happy Thanksgiving To ALL!!! (Mom wants us to still celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow as planned, we are going to a great buffet, and it has lots of legal food for me, and I am bringing my own cocktail sauce for the shrimp cocktail.) And Friday and Saturday we will deal with the wake and funeral.

          Again, my best to all.

mission - sending another hug your way.

chemo - Happy Turkey Day to you too. I've got my menu ready and my entire meal is legal - and it sounds fabulous. I'm making a couple extras for my teenagers [potatoes and rolls], but have no problem skipping those items. I already bought 'to go' containers so I can send the leftovers with them.

I love cooking and the adventure of new recipes, can't wait to serve it up!

chemo baby mama- Only you can decide if the pie is worth it but two words of caution:

                        1) after not having had carbs for awhile it can do nasty things to your system.

                        2) one stray can sometimes start a landslide. You don't think it will, and you don't mean it to happen, but it does. Just know this in advance.

My condolences, Mission. I know hard hard it is to lose someone so close. In time, I hope that pain ebbs, and the warmth of remembering good times and your father's love will take its place in the forefront of your heart and mind.

Chemobaby: be sure to give us an after-action report! I hope you enjoy your cheat to the fullest - and return immediately to plan on Friday! (But no whining about how you gained four pounds in one day, okay?)

Thank you all for your kind words of sympathy.

I made it through Thanksgiving, the wake, funeral/funeral luncheon staying on plan. On Sunday DH and our 2 sons took Mom out to a restaurant in a cool neighborhood on the North side of Chicago, and then drove her around Michigan Ave to see the beautiful Christmas decorations and all the decorated buildings, and just to enjoy the skyline.

After all of that I woke up around 3 am Monday with a full force flu!!!
Haven't been this sick for 20 years. Had to get on the computer for a few minutes, even though I feel like I have been run over by a steam roller, I had to get up and take my meds and walk around for a few minutes. DH took me to the DR this am.
