    Itchy scalp???

    Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum although this is my second time doing the Atkins. I have a question that has seemed silly to other's I've asked who have done or doing low carb dieting. My head itches like crazy!!!!! I noticed this the first time I did Atkins but thought maybe it was just a coincidence. But, this is my second time doing Atkins and now, after 6 weeks, my scalp is itching terribly again. Have any of you experienced this or do you have any ideas about what might be causing it. It has to be related to the diet because it has never done this otherwise. Thanks for any input.

      I have never heard of it but I would recommend making sure you are drinking enough water.

          Many of us have complained of itching on Atkins, I don't recall anyone else saying their scalp. It seems to go away shortly.

                  ive been on atkins since sept 1 but i noticed th ta the past week or so mine has been itching- i just htought maybe it ws hte change in weather or something.. who knows..?

                      Yes, I've had itching as well...itchy scalp even. Do a search on "itching" on this site and you'll see several entries including some of mine. Lot's of folks brush it off as allergies but there's got to be something something to it besides allergies. Luckily, my itching, has gotten much better lately....but time will tell.

                          Yeah, I itch in spots where I am about to lose, hey maybe you lost some weight on your head? heh heh. Seriously though, my scalp gets itchy as the seasons change. It passes.

                              I put tea tree oil in my shampoo and it stopped the itching in my scalp. I use 1/4 of the small bottle in a 15oz bottle of shampoo. I buy the tea tree oil at Longs Drug Store and you can get it at a health food store.

                              Along with the itching as my skin, shrinks it gets dry and itchy then I peel and I have new looking skin in some places. The new skin looks and feels great.
