Re: New to atkins
Welcome!
How much weight do you have to lose?
If you post a complete menu, we can take a look. Please include quantities and net carbs for all foods.
How much water do you drink?

Re: New to atkins
About a stone, I'm eating one egg with 3 asparagus egg and tuna mayo with spinich and salmon or lamb with spinach, each day I've also had cheese about 4 baby bells a day snacking and 2-3 slices of beef or chicken to snax on. I have been drinking tea with lactos milk or cream and I did drink gin and tonics at the weekend.

Re: New to atkins
A stone is 14 pounds so you will not see a huge drop. For most of us that has little left to lose it will take some time.
You are it looks like eating little food - you should eat at least to your BMI and it does not look like you are eating enough vegetables. We eat three cups or if you prefer to weigh most of our 20 daily carbs should be from vegetables. Yours look to be from cheese. Milk is not allowed so cream would be better. Tonic has tons of sugar in them. And no alcohol on induction.
Good luck. Make sure you check the rules of the diet.
Here are some threads in our FAQ that will help you.

No, then 2 lbs is probably not "normal"!

You didn't write net carbs for your other foods... and for some you didn't even mention quantities. Are you counting your net carbs? Measuring your foods?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: New to atkins
Hey.
During my two week induction I didn't lose anything but I definitely lost inches (about a dress size in fact!).
I decided to continue on the induction this week but vowed to drink more water (about 8-10 tall glasses a day), cut out the snacking on cheese, cut out processed meat etc.
On an average day I would eat; scrambled eggs (2/3 eggs, butter but no milk) for breakfast, tin of tuna mid-morning, grilled chicken slices with raw spinach or rocket and full-fat mayo for lunch and sirloin steak with rocket/spinach salad, 5 cherry tomatoes, grated cheddar and mayo for dinner. I have 1/2 cups of decaf tea at work with a tiny tiny splash of milk.
This week I have lost around 0.3kg (0.6lbs per day)!

Re: New to atkins
Lou, how many net carbs are in that menu? Rocket (arugula) and spinach are very low in carbs.
Can you get cream at the office? Or do you have a fridge there?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: New to atkins
i suppose I could bring some cream into work, we do have a fridge. Does it not taste weird in tea?
I use fitday and on average I consume around 15-18g of carbs a day.
What sort of salads are good for getting your carb intake? with dinner I will usually have 5 cherry tomatoes and maybe a few slices of cucumber.

Re: New to atkins
Not in my opinion. You could use light cream, if you prefer. Heavy and light cream are appropriate for Induction, unlike milk. Milk has more lactose in it.Originally posted by Lou44 View Posti suppose I could bring some cream into work, we do have a fridge. Does it not taste weird in tea?
Are these net carbs or total carbs?I use fitday and on average I consume around 15-18g of carbs a day.
How many net carbs are coming from vegetables alone?
Well, you don't have to eat salads unless you want salads. You can eat cooked vegetables too. What sort of salads are good for getting your carb intake?
Among the so-called "salad vegetables" in DANDR 2002, the highest in carbs are peppers (red and yellow, in particular) and jicama. The vegetables on the "other" list are typically higher in carbs than those on the "salad" list.
The lists is here: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html
You can pick those veggies you like most. Aim for variety instead of restricting yourself to only 3-4 vegetables."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."
