Re: just a rant
Yes, I have. I try to focus on the positive ones that make me feel good. I have had a few people say my face is too thin, I had lost enough weight, blah, blah, blah.
Some of us have talked about this before. Just a general statement...I just think sometimes other people don't know how to accept our weight loss and that is how it comes out. Change (of any kind) is hard. People feel envious, threatened, maybe even competitive. There are a lot of emotional changes going on along with the weight loss and health changes. Just my opinion.
Now, for me...it is just the opposite. My husband has not said ONE word about my weight loss or Atkins. I started in April, have lost almost 45lbs, gone from a tight size 16 to a size 8 (or 10 depending on the clothes). He is gone a lot because of the military but I would think that the changes would be more obvious to him when he doesn't see me for weeks/months at a time. But that is just his way of dealing with it I guess.
You feel good and that is what is important. You have to trust yourself.

Re: just a rant
hey mate, Ive had that one too... you never know whats going on inside someone else's head when they make comments like that.
You know youre doing the right thing, getting healthy and in shape.
Keep your eye on that goal, stick with it. From what Ive seen losing weight following Atkins is the healthiest looking weight loss, we dont lose muscle mass because we are eating enough protein. Ive lost weight in the past and it made me look sick because I was losing muscle and that made my face look gaunt.
When you lose weight you reduce your risk of diabetes and other conditions, what a great thing to do for yourself no matter what anyone else thinks!
Those days of sitting on your arse, 21 stone are gone mate.

Re: just a rant
A lot of times people say things because they are jealous. Maybe they have tried to lose weight in the past and were unsuccessful, so they say things to make you feel like crap so that you won't think you're better than them. (Not that you would ever think that, but people are silly, LOL)

Re: just a rant
Anybody who has lost weight has probably heard these type of comments.
I think you have to keep in mind that traditionally, losing weight meant there was something wrong... disease... starvation... and being overweight was a sign of affluence and well-being. We're still programmed with these factors even though we've also taken on the "fat phobia" of the last half century.
People can't help but react when they are used to seeing you with plenty of padding and now they're seeing your bones.
The suck part is that they also react negatively to you having extra padding

Re: just a rant
Maybe she misses you. She had you next to her on the couch before and now you are off at the gym all the time. Also we often tend to get a little too focused on the diet and exercise and spouses sometimes view Atkins as a mistress since it does seem to take up a lot of our mental focus. Maybe she just needs some TLC.

I got several people telling me to stop losing, before I was good and ready to do so. Listen to your body rather than your friends and relatives... your body will speak the truth!

Re: just a rant
According to some of my family, I was born at 8 pounds and a few ounces and authomatically went to 170 pounds and then to my high weight. Now they don't pass up a moment to tell me I am too thin! People have spent a lifetime commenting on my weight ... I'm too fat, too thin, eat this, eat that, this diet is not good for you, this one is good for you ... blah, blah, blah. I was with some family on Friday when the subject came up again. I simply said, time to talk about someone elses weight. Dead silence.
When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.
