  • For those that believe that a one-day Cheat won't matter...

My father died last week. I spent the last two days with him at the Hospice. Needless to say, the selection of food was not conducive to the WOE. For two days, my menu ran: Breakfast- coffee, Lunch - plain bagel and Dinner - chicken noodle soup. On the day that he died, my sisters and I went back to his house and had wine.

I had been on the Candida diet, because of an over-growth of yeast. The yeast was coming under control.

Three days later, all of my cuticles are red, inflammed and swollen. 7 of them are also bleeding and have pus draining from them.

My tongue is now fuzzy again - worse than it had ever been.

I never had any problems before with UTIs related to yeast, but I think I am developing one now.

I'll attribute the exhaustion/ fatigue/ emotional unrest to the events of the week.

Ugh - two months of sacrifice - gone. I am actually worse off now than I was in the beginning. Interestingly - I only gained a couple of pounds - which just goes to show that the scale doesn't really reflect the overall health/well-being of the person, I suppose.

It may seem like it's 'no big deal', but your body certainly reacts.

    cocobelle,
I am so sorry for your loss! I lost my dad this year, too. It is so hard.

Be gentle with yourself, get back on track. It is so much easier taking care of yourself when you aren't consumed with caring for very sick loved ones.

    You can do it.

Cocobelle, I am so sorry for what you are going through. As Pam says, take care of yourself and don't be too harsh--you have had so much to deal with. Do the best you can for the next few days and eventually you will be able to get things back under control--and it hasn't been wasted time. You know what is happening and why, and hopefully you will be able to turn it around more quickly this time. Be good to you.

The most important thing is for you to take good care of yourself right now! I'm so sorry for your loss...I am no stranger to difficult losses myself, and one thing I can say is that I did NOT take care of myself very well during those times. I wish I had...I ended up fighting some serious illnesses and depression, and while I can't PROVE that those things were exacerbated by my poor nutrition choices, I feel that I could have saved myself a lot of misery. That said...just take it one step at a time, do the best you can, don't beat yourself up too hard if you "slip up", AND...remember that we are all here for you

I will ONLY weigh once per week! I will refer to DANDR 2002 and this forum when I have questions. I will revel in new recipes, new clothes, and the new feeling of being happy in my skin. I will hold myself accountable to do this the right way, without excuses, because I know that Atkins is the best thing for my health and happiness. I. Will. Succeed!
