  • You know you are on Atkins when...

    Every once in awhile this kind of thread surfaces for a few laughs and I think we are all due for one. So here is my observation of the day. My version of comfort food has mutated from mac and cheese or mashed potatoes to
    SCRAMBLED EGGS AND BACON!

    So what have you got for me? Hmmm?

    I got breakfast waaaaay late today. Was on the road early to a far away appointment. When I got there, in my car in the parking lot, I popped open some yogurt....knowing I needed to consume it with protein and fat to offset any blood sugar issues. I had brought some roast with me. Tender, yummy, tear apart with your fork....roast!! Only problem was...I heated it up before I left and 70 miles later, it was COLD. The fat was hard and white...I scooped that nasty fat up anyway and threw it in my mouth. I sucked it up knowing I needed to eat it...delicious or not! It's about fueling the body, period!! That's what I kept telling myself! Yes, it was nasty but I felt pretty full!

      Other teachers get hit up for candy and crackers they hide in their desks and cabinets. I get kids who hit me up for string cheese and vienna sausages. I had two students who begged for feta cheese and broccoli florets ROFL!!!

        hmmm My comfort food is now celery with cream cheese , cinnamin and splenda I have come a long way.lol Cindy

          You know you are on Atkins when the most exciting part of your day is discovering that Kraft cream cheese has one-third the carbs of the version you've been buying and you add Kraft cream cheese to your grocery list and fantasize about getting past your stall.

            New Comfort Food----Thinly sliced jicama, sauteed in butter until crispy, then sprinkled lightly with cinnamon!

            Never heard of jicama until Atkins.

                You search through the meat department desperately hunting the pieces with the absolute highest amounts of obvious fat. . .

                You consider butter one of your new food groups . . .

                People at the work luncheon comment about your weight loss and have a very confused look as you smile and munch on a double cheeseburger patty coated in mayo to go with your salad . . .


                In regards to new comfort foods -
                Unsweetened chocolate flavored almond milk in a tall glass with a pack of stevia - seems pretty decadent for just a few carbs!

                    You know you are on Atkins when:

                    You pick up every can at the store reading the ingredients and then throw them back down with a disgruntled look on your face shaking your head.

                    When you don't have to worry if there will be any milk or yogurt at the store, the skim milk might be gone but there is still plenty "Full Fat" products laying around.

                    When you get excited about a salad...yet disgusted with a cookie.

                        You know you're on Atkins when you can barely stop yourself from shaking your head pityingly at the woman in the supermarket in front of you who is buying what appears to be everything from the Weight Watchers range. I did this yesterday and thought how different our purchases looked - mine were all natural, hers were in brightly printed packets and (I imagine) would taste like dust.

                        She looked really cross too - as I did when I did WW!

                          Mission - me too! Love jicama, but I've only eaten it raw. I'm going to try this tonight!

                          You know you're on atkins when you pick the carrots out of 'frozen vegetable mix'. We have these great bags of fresh frozen veggies at our local grocery - love them, but most of the mixes include carrots. I take them out and save them for my daughter when she visits

                          Also, when you're feeling a little 'bloated' and all I can think about is making 'whooshie pie' this weekend! Love it!

                            You know you're on Atkins when you carry your own salad dressing around in your purse

                            (I always buy my cream in litres - cheaper that way - and I always finish them )

                              the same thing happens to me with my roasts the parts i save and the fat turns hard and white and tastes nasty then but i forcefully eat it too xD

                              iv also lately been geting a butcher i know at the store to cut fat for me its really nice he gives it to us for free its taken awhile though to find a butcher that knows how to cut fat properly
