  • Would you switch now?

Would you switch to pre-maintenance/maintenance now if you were me? We're TTC in 2 weeks.

I've been gradually adding foods back in and it's going fine. Over Thanksgiving it was a bit hard to eat the way I wanted since we were in Chicago and didn't have control over the menu...for 6 days! However, I did significantly better than I ever have in the past and even came back a pound lighter. I had fauxtatoes on Thanksgiving and did good there. My treats that day were one bite of pie and one slice of cranberry sauce. Yum. Anyway...

So would you make the transition now or wait until you got a positive on the pee stick.

This has something to do with getting pregnant I am guessing. I do not know what TTC is.
So you want to be in maintenace for that I am guessing? So the positive on the pee stick is not ketosis, right?

There is not a major difference between last rung on OWL and premaintenance. You can start playing around with quantities - so instead of having only 5 carbs of something you can test out and see how you do with 10 carbs of the same stuff.
I would work in some grains to test and then when that positive comes (and I am crossing fingers and toes) start eating a higher level of carbs.

Oops...sorry...yes, TTC is "Trying to Conceive". I forgot this isn't a fertility board.

I don't plan to add grains back in on a regular basis so I guess I'm pretty much there anyway. I just haven't been here for a long time. The only difference btwn where I am right now and where I would like to be in terms of lifetime eating habits is the addition of a little more fruit and a little more starchy veggies.

      Thanks for your help.

How about corn? Nothing from that rung what so ever? If that is what you decide that is fine. You're doing the folic acid thing but you may have that covered already.

Oops again. Yes, I do plan to eat corn. I forgot that was on the grains rung. I just don't plan to do rice or wheat much. Makes me bloaty and I don't digest it well. I LOVE corn. Actually I have a great corn recipe that's with sour cream and red peppers and it's sooooo good. I'll have to find it and I'll post it in the recipes section for those at that rung.

Yup, been taking folic acid forever now. All my vitamins and minerals are really good.

            Re: Would you switch now?

After 6 years of TTC on and off (just gave it up after a while, so we didn't try hard for the last two years or so), I finally got preggo after two and a half months on Atkins. I was on OWL rung 4 (or so) when I conceived.

I have a very healthy beautiful baby girl as a result.

It wasn't hard for me to ease into Maintenance once the "plus" came back on the test.
