  • Cheating dreams...anybody else have them?

Since night one of induction, almost every single night I have a dream that I cheated and ate something I should not have. As a result, I wake up in the morning feeling incredibly guilty, and then I finally realize it was just a dream and move on. Does anybody else have this same issue?

Re: Cheating dreams...anybody else have them?

While I haven't had cheating dreams about food per se, I do have experience as a recovering alcoholic. Early in sobriety I had drinking dreams... I was told that it's normal, and that frequently it's a significant indicator of how serious I was about turning my life around. That was 26 years ago, so I would say I received good advice. I'll pass it on to you... Don't worry. The dreams just mean you're serious about staying true to your new way of eating and living.

Now if you wake up and say, "Oh what a great idea!" then go out for doughnuts and bagels, then yeah that could be a problem. LOL

Re: Cheating dreams...anybody else have them?

OMG, I thought I was the only one this happened to!

At least several times a week, I have these dreams where I've just eaten an illegal food, not thinking about it, and then WHOA! I panic in the dream and then I wake up.

And after taking a few days off plan for T-day and paying the price for the last week (bad circulation made worse, heartburn, bloating, farts/burps galore and just feeling gross) I'm finally back on track.

Glad to know I'm not the only one with these dreams!

This is actually a fairly common dream experience!

I very rarely remember my dreams, but I do remember dreaming about cheating during induction Can't remember the details anymore...

Yep! I get 'em about once a week now. Even in my dream while I'm doing it, I'm sitting there going, "WTF am I eating this for!! Ptooey! Ptooey!" as I spit it out. Then I wake up thinking Oh no, I've TASTED it, I couldn't control myself and shoved it in my mouth! Then the realization of it being a dream washes over me, and I know I don't want to cheat, it's just one of those things because you know you're doing this, you know you don't want to, but you end up dreaming it for some reason or another. I like the idea that Suzanne gave - that we're just REALLY serious about this WOE from her previous experience.

I remember having those dream about smoking! Maybe it's just longing for the proverbial forbidden fruit that makes us dream of things we can't have.

This happens to me. After I wake up, I always feel relieved that I didn't actually eat whatever it was.

That's EXACTLY what happens to me! I wake up feeling guilty and a little angry, but when I realize it was all just a dream, I feel really relieved.

Gosh! I read this thread last week before I started and said to myself "I hope I don't have cheating dreams!!". Well, last night I had a dream that I ate a bowl of Froot Loops...LOL. It seemed sooo real too! I woke this morning questioning myself. Anyways, just thought I'd share my experience. It is kinda creepy, lol.

I had my first cheating dream last night, and it was like others where they took a bite of something then spit it out. For me I was dreaming all night I was cleaning and packing up my house for a move. At the end I was cleaning the kitchen and there was a Reese Peanut butter cup left over from Halloween so I opened it and put it in my mouth. I woke up coughing and trying to spit it out. Not a fun way to wake up.

LOL I think you should worry if you wake up and your husband has a bowl in his head, the milk is in the floor and there is a fruit loop attached to your forehead.
