  • Regular Coke in US vs Singapore

A 12oz can of regular Coke in the US has 40.5 grams of carbs.

A 12oz can of regular Coke in Singapore has 11 grams of carbs.

I first noticed this during my first few days assigned here in Singapore when my office mates and I were having lunch. I asked them if they noticed any difference in the taste of the Coke they were drinking compared to Coke back home in the Philippines. They said no. (BTW, Coke cans in the Philippines don't have nutritional info printed, so I'm assuming Coke at home has the same carbs as the US).

If I remember correctly, Singapore mandates the allowable amount of sugar in sugary softdrinks. So what's the point of putting approx. 8 teaspoons of sugar in Coke when 3 will do?

Could it be the addictive properties of sugar?

Wow, that is very interesting! I never did know that. It most likely is the addictive properties of sugar. I don't exactly know, but this is very interesting!

i have heard for some people carbohydrates are very addicting and i know for people who work out hard carbohydrates are extremely addicting they basically think that they cannot live with out

there body does not have many insulin receptors on there muscles because with all the carbs they eat there muscles would overflood with glucose so in short there muscles are insulin resistant because of there unatural high carb diet

now on a natural low carb diet when athletes start this diet there muscles dont work properly they can get cramps and stuff but when this happens they absolutely cannot handle it because they think this low carb diet is makeing them sick and weak

produceing insulin receptors for your muscles takes time especially when you have ate very high carb your whole life and your body adapted to have less of them on your muscles anyways i think it takes up to 3 and a half months for some peoples bodys to produce enough insulin receptors on there muscles for them to be naturally insulin senseitive and to feel good again on a low carb diet

are muscles are naturally suposed to have lots of insulin receptors and be insulin senseitive and not insulin resistant

so it is very hard to convince someone who works out hard alot that eating low carb will be the best choice for them and that there muscles will get strong again after 3 and a half months there for carbohydrates are extremely addicting in that sense

i remmber a few times i tried a so called anabolic carb up after 4 or so straight years following atkins well the test i tried eating candy and potatos and almost immediately afterwards all my muscles on my whole body got soo sore i could bearly move i guess that is what happens to your muscles when they get overflooded with glucose i also felt very sick and dizzy and sorta like a fever feeling

I just did the maths and 12 ounces of regular Coke in UK has 37.5 grams of carbs (26.9 per 250 mls).

How weird that they are different depending on where you live!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I can't drink Coke and most softdrinks in the US. For some reason, the fizz is a lot stronger and I get really gassy.
