A 12oz can of regular Coke in the US has 40.5 grams of carbs.
A 12oz can of regular Coke in Singapore has 11 grams of carbs.
I first noticed this during my first few days assigned here in Singapore when my office mates and I were having lunch. I asked them if they noticed any difference in the taste of the Coke they were drinking compared to Coke back home in the Philippines. They said no. (BTW, Coke cans in the Philippines don't have nutritional info printed, so I'm assuming Coke at home has the same carbs as the US).
If I remember correctly, Singapore mandates the allowable amount of sugar in sugary softdrinks. So what's the point of putting approx. 8 teaspoons of sugar in Coke when 3 will do?
Could it be the addictive properties of sugar?
