  • How many net carbs are in..

How many net carbs are in a scrambled egg? Just a plain egg with salt and pepper scrambled in Pam? I tried looking it up and got 2 net carbs, per egg. Is that correct?

Also, does anyone eat Hidden Valley Ranch on their salad? Or, is Hidden Valley (1 tbs per salad) Induction friendly?

    Thanks!!

    -Christie

one egg, with nothing else, is .6g carb. So, assuming you just added S&P, you're at .6.

      Hi Christie,

Good job at being cautious, and making sure of what you are eating. As I'm sure you've been told, be sure to Read The Book

Here is a great link to get the nutritional results you may want....
      http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/

And here is the result of the search for 1 scrambled egg... 1.34
So 2 eggs would be <3 carbs
      http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/cgi-bin/list_nut_edit.pl

But may I ask why you are using Pam? Wouldn't it taste better if you cooked it with Butter? I know it is tough changing the mindset of less fat is better, but the fat is needed in this WOE. That's part of what makes it so satisfying.

Hidden Valley Ranch is induction friendly, as long as you are getting the Original, NOT the light or fat free. 2 carbs per 2 Tablespoons.

Good luck and keep those questions coming

Hmmm, just looked again after reading Slapshots reply.....
Raw they list a large egg as .39 carbs... so I don't know what they were cooking that egg in Sugar flavored oil ???

1 egg on the USDA can't be 1.34 net carbs ... a large egg is 0.39 net carbs.

Eggs are on the unlimited food list, so I wouldn't worry about it. It seems like each site has their own *special* way of counting!

O.O Does the carb count go up when it is cooked? No way I will be eating a raw egg but they are on the unlimited food list. I just wanted to make sure I don't go over 20 net carbs per day and count everything I eat. Do you guys ever eat scrambled eggs? If so, how many carbs do you write down? I do agree with every site having their own way of counting, I thought the usda was correct down to the decimal info.

                  No.

                  >>Do you guys ever eat scrambled eggs? If so, how many carbs do you write down?>>

                  Pretty much every morning!

I count .39 for each egg.

I count for the other ingredients then.

                  >> thought the usda was correct down to the decimal info.>>

It is ... as long as you're using the entry for a raw egg!

Some sites include other things in an item like "scrambled egg" ... such as milk.

That's why you should always use the entry for "raw" ...

Oooh okay! Thanks a bunch atkinsgal08!! You are always a big help! I do know of some people adding milk to their scrambled eggs to make them "fluffy", but I don't and couldn't if I wanted to. And that is probably how it is calculated on the sites (with milk added). Thanks again!!

You can add cream ... or water, if you want.

And ... IHOP adds pancake batter to theirs!

Wow. Who knew? Do they add it to scrambled eggs or just the omelettes? (I could see adding it to the omelettes to make them fluffy, but scrambled eggs?). Geez...I never would have thought they'd add stuff like that to eggs. Pre-Atkins, I've eaten the scrambled eggs there before and didn't even think of asking if they added pancake batter (I just assumed milk).

I wouldn't trust their scrambled eggs either ... but you can always ask for "cracked eggs" ...

The IHOP I had the misfortune to eat at recently certainly did add pancake batter to the scrambled eggs I ordered. One bite and I knew i should have ordered over easy.
