Hi all this question is really for my Mom. I am trying to get her to join this group. She is on day 2 of a clean induction. She says she can't drink all the water. It is literally causing her nausea. Anyone have ideas for her? I told her I thought maybe it was just partially related to this being the second day. I had some stomach upset on day 2. What do you thinK?

Re: water causing nausea?
You might want to check out some of the threads on induction flu. It's pretty common. Drinking 8 glasses of water a day is a commonly recommended amount, so I can't imagine it's the water... but it does take some getting used to. I would encourage you both to stay the course, just take it a day at a time, try to get through the induction period. It's so worth the effort.

Re: water causing nausea?
Is she trying to drink a lot in one go? If so maybe getting a sports-top bottle to have with her and take a sip every now and agian might make things easier for her.
I got into the habit of taking a sip each time I am waiting for the screen to refresh and seemingly in no time I need to refill the bottle.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: water causing nausea?
Elizellen,
I suspected she was overdrinking at one point too. It was evening and she was telling me about all this water she still had to drink. That used to make me sick when I did it that way. I think she's just adjusting to the idea of always having a water around. If you haven't done it for 50+ years its going to take some getting used to.

She could try a straw. If sipping, she might be gulping too much air...when I get gas in my stomach I get nausea too.~Lisa

Re: water causing nausea?
It took me a couple of weeks to build up to the proper water intake. Everything doesn't have to be spot on perfect from day one. Tell her to keep drinking a little more each day but not to worry if it takes awhile to build up. As you say, it has been a long time since she drank large quantities of water each day so this is one of the areas where you can build up to it and not worry about being "perfect" from day one. It isn't worth the nausea. In a few weeks I am betting she will be fine and craving water as I do.
