Even though I know I am proud of myself for the weight I've lost on this WOE, somehow my visit to a new doc yesterday was a kick in the teeth.
So, after a few days of enjoyed Turkey day, I went back on OWL on Dec. 3. Saw him and had a round of baseline blood tests on Dec. 7. Wasn't back in ketosis.
So yesterday at the followup, he told me he was putting me back on Glucophage (for my Type II) but at a lower Rx than before, plus Lisonopril (?) to protect my kidneys because I'm diabetic.
My A1C 6 months ago was nearly 10 (medicated), now it's 7.2 (unmedicated). He wants it under 6.5.
Then, because my cholesterol is 260 (WHOA) he put me on Crestor, and wants to see me in 3 months. And he said I have a lot of inflammation.
I'm happy because he's very thorough, much more so than my old doctor, and he spent 40 minutes with me. He's been a doc for 10 years and has a great, to-the-point bedside manner. He eased my Dad through his last months this summer with dignity and no pain.
Anyway, I'm still feeling the sting of less-than-ideal numbers and pissed off that I have to take meds again, but he's thrilled with my weight loss and has the sole goal of helping me get healthy.
And I've lost 5 lbs more in the last week. So that makes 53 lbs down in 98 days; 75 lbs from my heaviest.
Overall I'm happy, but was hoping for better results. Hopefully when I see him in 3 months, the numbers will be even better.
Thanks for letting me vent!
