1000 calories??? :yikes
Go to www.countcarbs.com and use their tools link to figure out your basal and active metabolic rates and see how many calories you should be eating for your particular lifestyle. Eating too few is NOT GOOD, particularly if you are working out!

muscle loss
Quick answer - yes, you will lose muscle if you continue to do what you are doing. In fact, i bet you lost water AND muscle already.
The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends 1200 calories as the minimal daily calorie level for women and 1800 as the minimum for men.
So, yes 1000 calories for a man is way too low. Why? Because when you have too few calories, you starve the muscle and your body goes into starvation mode and lowers its metabolism.
So, yes you will lose muscle

if you think 1000 calories is low i have been consuming about 800-900 for the past 3 months... i just can't eat enough to consume enough calories in a day even if i do use oil/butter/mayo in my foods.*******************
