  • Struggling to eat.

    I am struggling to eat, I am just not hungry. I know in order to lose the weight I gotta eat but for some reason I am not hungry and sometimes eat my first meal at 2pm (sigh) anybody gone thru that and how did you fix it..I get home in the morning and think breakfast! but then something comes up and this and that and when you look at the clock it is noon!
    highest 230 ---- started atkins------current 175 lbs

    I started atkins in late november but every other week just sort of fell off the wagon and was not working out..late december I started to really follow it and added the gym from november to december I only lost like 7 lbs not following it right..from december to march 18 I lost 50 lbs give or take depending what mood my scale is on lol.

    One of the side effects of ketosis is appetite suppressant.

    The way through it is to simply eat. You don't have to eat a meal ... you can just "graze".

    Not eating is counter-productive.

    Maybe having something ready for when you get home ... so that all you have to do is heat it up.

      so graze as in I can eat some cucumbers with cheese or something induction friendly? and then really eat when I am really hungry? can I get away with that? i just don't feel like eating a lot, but I can graze a little I can deal with that.

        Yes.

        You shouldn't be "really hungry" ... that may mean you waited too long to eat.

        Yes.

        There's nothing that says you have to have 3 sit down meals.

        Keep in mind that undereating ... both in calories and net carbs will be counter-productive to losing.

          ok, thanks. so I signed up with Fitday.com where do i go to enter what I have eaten to make sure I am eating enough carbs?

            When you've signed in, it takes you directly to the Food Log.

            You then use the search window on the left hand side under Add Food to search for your food and then you select the appropriate quantity from the drop downs.

            It's best to enter food in the raw state, too.

            For example, if you had 2 scrambled eggs, you would search for "eggs, whole, raw" and then select the quantity and the size of the egg.

            Then you would add any other ingredients you might have had.

            Fitday also remembers what you've eaten, so the next time you can select it from "View my recent foods".

                Just remember that the Rules state you go no more than 6 waking hours without eating something.

                If you choose to "graze"---make sure your grazing includes fat, protein and carbs.

                If you are very worried about the amount of food you are eating, plug your foods and their amounts into something like fitday.com. Eating too little is counterproductive to Atkins. Remember Atkins is not a low-cal, starvation diet.

                      It's a good feeling, isn't it? Never thought I'd hit a "diet" that supprssed my appetite naturally, no chemicals, no medicines. Woot!

                        Seriously!! usually you are so darn hungry you don't stay long enough, in this one is like I don't want to eat all this food!!haha

                          I don't have any experience with this...I am not starving by any means on Atkins, but my stomach still tells me when to eat. I could tell time by it some days I do have a couple ideas you could consider:

                          Try taking a few bites of something...like an appetizer...it "wakes up" your appetite. Maybe you could have a small snack before you leave work, or on the way home?

                          I've personally found that coffee is an appetite suppressor for me, do you drink coffee at work?

                            No, I don't drink coffee nor anything with caffeeine on it even before I joined atkins so that is not a problem for me. Just water.
