I would make do with what was Atkins friendly, and what wasn't I'd skip it. After a few holiday parties my family not only quit bothering me about it but also started making sure to have Atkins friendly foods.
At first it's kind of hard but soon it becomes no big deal at all.
Being thin really does taste better than all that yummy yummy holiday food.
Grrrr.... Can someone please help me remove my foot from my mouth?
For the first time in a LONG time... I blew it.
    sigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well. I did great on many many holidays, blew one, but will do great on many others!!
What really sucks is there was totally Atkins friendly food there too. sigh.. just shoot me.

Ohhh, now comes the hard part. Figuring out why with so many choices you felt it necessary to eat the foods you shouldn't have??????

        Re: Holiday food question

        Well I THINK:
For one, after blowing it the other day it's hard to get out of the 'oh well, I'm already off track' mind set... you know the one that makes you tell yourself you'll just 'restart tomorrow'.. grrrrr.....
Also, being off track = mad cravings. I always get cravings but I forgot how strong these carb-attack cravings can be!!
Another - alchohol. I had a few Michelobe Ultras.
Another - peer pressure. Sick of hearing the 'one bite won't hurt'.
And lastly - to not be 'rude' because my uncle cooked all day...

But over all - those are just excuses. If I REALLy wanted to stick to plan I would have.
That's what sucks. I really do want to stick to it, just don't know what's wrong with me lately!!
I really hope everbody else did better then me!!!!!

I'm so used to this way of eating, that what I want is low carb. I'm not tempted to eat off plan "just because" it's Christmas... after all, everything I could eat off plan these days I can eat on any other day of the year, if I really wanted to.

I did have dessert today, which is not something I have often. It was a "thing" with cottage cheese, heavy cream and berries. It was sweet enough without any sweetener, for me... my brother added a few drops of stevia to his.

Then on New Year I'll have cheesecake.

And yesterday I had a wedge of pomelo, which is a new food for me, but perfectly "legal" at this point.

Otherwise plenty of veggies, protein and healthy fats... and water. I'm spending the holidays with my parents and brother... and my brother is also eating (mostly) low carb... so there are many LC options on our menu.

Then stop talking about your way of eating!

If you don't mention it, people won't try to get you to eat something.

I did make it through the holiday on plan (Thank Goodness!). I brought my own salad and ate while every one else munched on Ham, Potatoes, and lost of other & desserts. I was going to eat a piece of ham, but didn't know if it was cured with sugar or "injected" with something, so I stayed on the safe side! Good Luck to you all on the holidays!!
