  • Low carb slow-cooker cookbook

Hi everyone! I am wondering if any of you has a favorite low-carb slow cooker recipe or cookbook that you may use. I just love my crockpot and saw an ad for a cookbook on Amazon, but before buying it (The Everyday Low Carb Slow Cooker Cookbook) I would like some other advice! Thanks and happy holidays to all!

    Re: Low carb slow-cooker cookbook

I have Dana Carpender's slow cooker cook book. Don't really use the slow cooker, so I can't really comment.

I would take a look at this book at a bookstore before buying it.

Not everyone defines low carb the same way ... and the recipes may include ingredients that aren't Atkins friendly.

"Low carb" doesn't always equal Atkins.

What I liked about Dana's cookbook is that she's actually doing low-carb!

I totally understand that! I have been looking at supposed "low carb recipes" and when the first step is to coat the meat in flour, that kinda sets off an alarm in my head! I need to go to the local bookstore or keep scouring the internet and make up my own!!!
      Thanks for the reply!

I used my slow cooker quite a bit, and all low-carb. Just skip the part of recipes that call for browning in flour. To be honest, I do my pot roast in the crock pot without searing, and it works fine. Throw in my veggies (onion, celery, turnips) and then put the roast on top, set on high for about 4 to 6 hours. I use the crock pot for pork chops, stewed chicken, tenderloin, chili, soups, stews... awesome.

Like Suzanne I don't sear my meat but just put it on top of my veggies. It is great to get home after a day out to find the house smelling delicious and have a cooked meal waiting for me
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I am generally able to use any regular crock pot recipe and convert it to low-carb, so don't forget to check your used book stores and libraries for crock pot cookbooks as well!
