Re: splenda vs stevia
I'm not a sweet carb addict: I'm a starchy carb addict. So I rarely use sugar substitutes in my food. That said, I'm not fond of the stevia powders/liquids on the market because I can detect a herby-grassy-bitter flavor in whatever food I use it. Due to that nasty aftertaste, I don't use the stevia products.Originally posted by warmsummerfall View PostWhat is everyones opinion on the difference between the two? However, last spring I bought a stevia plant and I grew him throughout summer. The fresh stevia leaves didn't lend foods that bitter-herby aftertaste.

Re: splenda vs stevia
I like Splenda best -- I use a half packet occasionally in food that I feel needs a little sweetness. As a treat once in a while I'll have a 1/2 packet in hot tea -- that's my treat.Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

Re: splenda vs stevia
Just remember, that we are limited to 3 packets of splenda daily. Something in my memory recalls reading that 1 packet of splenda has the sweetening power equivalent to 2 teaspoons of sugar.~Megs~

Yes I purchased mine in the sugar aisle. If your grocer doesn't have it there with the Splenda just ask. They may have it set aside with diabetic products.Originally posted by warmsummerfall View PostI cant find liquid sweetner. Is it in the sugar isle?

Re: splenda vs stevia
While the 3 serving rule is directed towards all sugar substitutes, packets and Splenda are specifically mentioned in DANDR 2002, Chapter 18 --the Induction Rules repeatedOriginally posted by atkinsgal08 View Post>>Just remember, that we are limited to 3 packets of splenda daily.>>
Actually, the limit is 3 servings of sweetener.
Not just Splenda ... and not just packets.
DANDR 2002 Chapter 1, Induction Foods List, also specifically mentions 3 packets of saccharin as being safe.13. You may use up to three packets of sucralose Splenda daily.~Megs~
