So I got the strip and I did the test as it said but it came out between the big dark color or the one below it..the last two could not tell..what does that mean? I need more water?

Ketosis strip question.
highest 230 ---- started atkins------current 175 lbs

I started atkins in late november but every other week just sort of fell off the wagon and was not working out..late december I started to really follow it and added the gym from november to december I only lost like 7 lbs not following it right..from december to march 18 I lost 50 lbs give or take depending what mood my scale is on lol. -

Many times the darker the color the more dehydrated you are. The strips aren't real reliable - some people never show any color even though they show other signs of keotsis. The color doesn't mean you are "further into keotsis" or not...you're either in keotsis or you aren't.
You should be drinking a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water daily if you aren't I suggest you start drinking more. Many people here drink half their weight or more in water daily.

Thank you for the responses and the link ..I read it which left me a little confused I guess. So if I get this clear darker results does not mean I am dehydrated? it just means more ketones in the blood that spill into the urine right? so what ways will I know when I am in ketosis? when the weight continues to come off I guess?

It may mean you ARE dehydrated. It may mean you just spilled a lot of ketones.
How much water are you drinking? Around 115 ounces would probably be a good amount for you.

If the strips turn, that means you're spilling ketones (in ketosis).
It does NOT mean that you are doing Atkins right or that you will lose weight.

I have been drinking about 40 oz a day and that is pushing it (sigh) is there a water challenge going on? I guess I need something to get me started I know how important water is but I forget to drink it. Thanks

actually ketosis does not mean weight loss. You can over eat your atkins and be in dark purple stix ketosis and gain weight.
Once an inductee gets to ketosis they should be in ketosis until they add back too many carbs in OWL or binge off plan.
use the physical symptoms of atkins ketosis to know you are there and put your stix away. appetite suppression, increase in thirst, change in the smell of your breath and/or urine, metalic taste in mouth, burst of energy, lack of ability to sleep as much as you did on your high carb diet. any or all of those mean you are in ketosis.by the book atkinseer
