  • Sick again

Well, I just got sent for bloodwork this morning due to horrible stomach pains. The two levels of amulites [ sp? ] and something else is elevated like it was when I first had pancreatitis. So this is the third time that I had this, the second time I had to get my gallbladder out, which they still blame on Atkins. Does anyone know if Atkins could be affecting this still?

I'm so sorry you're unwell! :hug
I think that's probably a question you need to ask your doctors. Maybe write out a few days of typical menu's and show them that when you them next. Even with health care professionals, there's no guarantee what they think of when you say 'Atkins', so best be clear as to what you are eating.

I hope this resolves quickly for you!

I have to go to a GI specialist next week. But, I have a feeling everything is going to boil down to Atkins being the problem, as debatable as it is. I think it's time to realize the truth.

Well, the gallstones got stuck in the duct of the pancreas, causing it be inflamed. So now that the gallbladder is gone, they need to figure out what's causing it to keep having attacks.

so you had a gall stone blocking the duct? Are you sure you din't have more then one stone in your gallbladder itself to warrent removal of the whole gallballder? Sometimes when the gall bladder is removed stones can backout into the liver and be secreted later or they can stay there and get bigger.

Since we know you aren't drinking alcohol as you are 16 that can be ruled out.

Atkins does not cause gallstones. Any rapid weight loss program can cause them as more cholesterol is pased through the liver to the bile. BC pills can cause them too. low fat diets can cause them as when there isn't much stimulation of the bile ducts the salts tend to cystalize. Your GI person will have the report from your surgeon on the type of stones you had and what is causing this inflamation this time.

Keep us posted and don't worry about it before the fact that is just borrowing worry.

              Happy low carbing.

I agree with the idea of writing down your menues for couple of days before going to doc again. If they wanna blame atkins - fine, but not so before they study it first
Hope you'll feel better very soon, whatever is causing the pain.
