The advice I received (from another board) said to keep adding carbs until I was knocked out of ketosis for a week. Well, that never happened! I never CONSISTENTLY stayed out of ketosis (even after eating sugar sometimes), so I just started gaining weight as I upped the carbs! If I stopped adding when I stopped losing, I would barely be eating anything!

I am not denying that the obesity problem is sad since that's we are here, to try to do something about it for ourselves.
What bothers me about this thread is that it may be well-meaning but seems to be a bit judgemental. I feel badly that the family who is out for dinner together has a 94 pound woman evaluating their food choices and feeling sorry for them. I just don't like that, I'm sorry. Everyone is responsible for their own choices and if I am at a restaurant with a steak or something that is Atkins-friendly I would hardly want someone going home and saying "there was this overweight woman at the restaurant eating this steak~why wasn't she eating chicken breast? I feel sorry for her."
Betty~I am not here to get into a sparring match about your own choices for your weight, but I also don't like that you seem to be looking down your nose at people who "aren't just overweight, but obese" when your highest weight is something that many of us only dream of. I mean no disrespect since I am sure you clearly had the perception of yourself as a big cow when you were over 130. To each their own, and if you are happy with your weight and lifestyle then good for you.
Look around the boards since there are many people who qualify as either formerly or presently obese and and are wonderful people doing their best to get healthier. I really don't want anyone to want to cry or feel sorry for me either before this WOE or now.
I just had to say this about this thread since it didn't seen to be dying on its own. This is NOT the kind of thread that gives me inspiration. It just reinforces what a superficial society we live in that if you are fat you should stay home and stuff your face rather than go out and order appetizers. Yes, it's fine to bash the fast food industry, etc. but not judge the people who are stuck in this mess and probably already feel badly about themselves.
I am sorry in advance if I have offended Betty or anyone else with this post.
You posted a quote from ttdriver answering my question, but I cannot find the post anywhere. The topic was on "anyone else being bashed?" - but the response is not there.
I would like to read the post in its entire context to make sure I understand correctly. I think that is important.

Nutri-nut. The quote I took was from this thread. Again like I said on page 1 of THIS thread second from the bottom.

Uhh, why does it matter whether Betty eats starch or whole grains????????????????? There have been a bunch of posts on this thread stating about individual food choices on Maintenance and eating what works for your body on Maintenance. Seems like you're a little too caught up in what Betty eats.
Keep doing what you're doing & you'll keep getting what you're getting!!!

Never did I judge or criticize anyone for being overweight. See my original post where I said that very thing. I was merely commenting on the FACT that obesity is an epidemic and how very sad that is.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I NEVER LOOK DOWN MY NOSE AT ANYONE.
