For those of you so inclined, this is an interesting video.
I warn that it is a little heavy in the middle on the science details/biochemistry, but some of us really enjoy that sort of thing and even if not, anyone can still get the big picture of this hypothesis. I also warn that it is over an hour long, but I felt it was time well spent. He goes into the obesity epidemic, public health and agriculture policy, sugar metabolism, etc. Some very interesting points made.
This video was brought to my attention from an email newsletter from that "quack" doctor, Dr. Joseph Mercola (note, I do not truly think him a quack though he may be referred to that way by some)... whom I do think somewhat of an extremist on some things, but often also feel he has the right general ideas even if he sometimes carries them quite far... and the fact that he basically supports the Atkins Diet in general doesn't hurt, LOL!

Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin. Series: UCSF Mini Medical School for the Public [7/2009] [Health and Medicine] [Show ID: 16717]
