Have you seen this press release: Atkins Nutritionals Gives Consumers More Ways to Start the Year Right -- DENVER, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ --

It seems Atkins is releasing a new book, and they are accepting people onto a 12 week challenge to gather new testimonials.

    Sounds really interesting.
Current Goal: 12lbs in 12 weeks

    Re: New Atkins Diet

Well Dr Atkins passed away in 2003 so he will very likely not release another one.

that company however does release books once in a while. They have adjusted the diet a bit. Here at ADBB we are basing our advice on the last book Atkins published when he was still aroung.
But I agree it will be interesting to see what that book will be like and I understand several actual doctors are participating in writing it.

They still haven't discovered the correct foods for Induction, or the correct carb counts though!

Details... They give "3 free nutrition bars"! That's what really matters!

Seriously though, I am looking forward the 2010 book. I like the fact that it's written by Westman, Phinney and Volek. I'm not very interested in the "diet" part, but I'm curious to see what new research on low carb nutrition they included in the book.

Georgianna that's a good way to look at it. I read stuff like that and my mind audibly slams shut. I know I miss out on a lot of learning that way. I'll be interested in seeing the research as well. This WOE as it is is working for me... so I'm not likely to fix it with some "nutrition" bars.

The key word in the headline is....CONSUMERS. The new edition will be adding whatever their research has told them will sell their product. The book itself, plus all of the shakes and bars.
Maybe I'm just cynical. I'm expecting them to say "no bacon, no red meat" and turn it into South Beach.

                    Re: New Atkins Diet

I took a look around their website and it appears to have changed a lot since I started Atkins. It was contradictory though in that reading the info in the various phases promoted whole foods with food lists that I'm familiar with and then there is the products section promoting their shakes, bars, bake mix, etc. They're such frankenfoods that do not heed what was just read on the phase pages.

A brief look at the forums reminded me of why I hang out here. The big thing I came away with is that their OWL consists of the first 4 OWL levels. I remember noticing that in my reading of Dr. A's books (can't remember which ones right now ).

I guess I'm curious about a new book but don't know if I would buy it. I'm easily confused. I like DANDR and it's working for me. I would be interested in any new scientific studies or if the medical community is more accepting of low carb WOE. Somehow, I don't think that will be in there though.
