  • Shredded cheese/cream cheese/sour cream.

I think I made a boo boo. I'm really disappointed. =/ I made salmon dip recently and I'm absolutely in love with that stuff. And over the course of two days I hate one block of cream cheese and a container of sour cream practically. Ha. Cause that's what it consists of. Though I'm joking slightly. Some of my family shared some, also. So I didn't consume all of it. I'm just so worried I might be knocked out of ketosis. Also, I had some "taco shredded cheese" just as I snack, something to munch on and it was tasty. It has less than 1 gram of sugar per ounce so I read and not very many carbs at all (cannot remember the total amount) but that's honestly about all I've had (with some other minor meats involved that are low in carbs) in the past two days. I figure with that small bit of carbs/sugar and the fact that I've been moderately exercising it would not affect me that badly. Let's hope not. Any opinions?

How much are a "block" and a "container"? Cheese is limited to 3-4 oz per day and sour cream to 1 oz per day. You need to count what you're eating and make sure you don't go over these allowed amounts.

I had some "taco shredded cheese"
What's "taco shredded cheese"? Did you check the ingredients?

It has less than 1 gram of sugar per ounce so I read
Is that what the label says?

not very many carbs at all
The carbs were likely less than 1 g as well... unless it had some starch added. That's why you need to read the ingredients, too.

Always check the carbs and the ingredients before throwing away the package. Both are important... and it's carbs that we count on Atkins (more exactly, net carbs), not grams of sugar. Also, labels in the US are not very accurate, because the manufacturer is allowed to round the carbs up or down. So if something has 0.499999999 g carbohydrate, the label can say 0 g; if it has 0.99999999 g, the label can say "less than 1 gram".

meats involved that are low in carbs
Where were the carbs in meat coming from? What kind of meat did you eat?

that's honestly about all I've had
    No vegetables?

      Re: Shredded cheese/cream cheese/sour cream.

Looking back when I started to let myself go and over induldge in Atkins friendly food, I wish I could take back giving into the cream cheese, cheese and nuts!! Had I reigned myself in sooner I could have saved myself a lot wasted time, heart ache, stess and weight gain of almost 60 lbs!!

This time around I'm wiser... but I suggest you get a grip on your eating because it's only hurting you girl.

One thing I found is that most shredded cheeses have fillers... shredded cheese stalls me like nobody's business, I won't touch the stuff anymore.

Anyway, just get yourself back on track. Give yourself a CLEAN induction.. it really helps!! It will get easier!! Promise!!

      Good luck!

Shredded Cheese in a package has starch in it so that the cheese doesn't stick together. Best thing is to buy the cheese in a block and shred it yourself as needed.

Yeah it's definitely not an all-you-can-eat diet, though some would say it is. I have to count calories as well as carbs. Just sayin'...

The thing with me and cheese, it is one of the foods that once I start eating it, I want more, so I try not too eat it too much. Not so much cream cheese, but like the cheddar cheese. I think it may be the salt.

You know, like you just can't have only "1" potato chip. I don't really even like chips that much, I only ate them with grilled cheese in my other life. And I gave chips up completely about 3 years ago because of the addictive nature and all the sodium.

Ugh. I'm so disappointed. But I didn't have all that much due to the fact that it was over a 2 day stretch and I was so busy it was the only one out of two things I could get my hands on those days. But I guess if I did knock myself out of ketosis the only choice I have is to restart. I doubt any weight gain will be severe considering I haven't done any cheating and that's it. I was being really loyal and can't believe I messed up like that. Explains why I lost so much a long time ago when I lost over 30 pounds doing this because I only had meat, veggies, and water, and blocks of cheddar and such. I'll be sure to be more careful. hopefully this won't happen again.

Always read the ingredients. In Germany, some shredded cheese has cellulose (a dietary fiber, so it's fine to have it) as anticaking agent. Other brands use potato starch (not good).

You don't have to restart. Just continue and be more careful from now on.

It's best not to compare your weight loss now with your weight loss "a long time ago". You're not getting younger... and our metabolism typically slows down as we age.
