The Special Category Foods are foods that have the potential to cause weight loss slow downs or stalls. Best to treat them with caution. If you do want to use them in the amount, you'll have to monitor your weight loss and blood sugar symptoms very carefully. At the first sign of problems, drop it from your diet and see what happens.
During Induction, I used the 2-3 tablespoons limit for cream. 3 ounces is about 1/3 cup (which is about 5 tablespoons)---I'm on OWL and I still don't eat that amount daily, weekly or monthly.
Remember too, heavy cream does contain carbs, about 0.5 to 0.7 net carbs per tablespoon. So you have to count that towards your daily total.

I have had to do away with cream...
it is one of those trigger foods for me that I can't seem to not overeat. I keep whipping it up with chocolate extract. Instead I buy half and half which has 1carb per serving, but I can't whip it up. Now that I am off of cream, I am back to losing 2 pounds a week.

Cream in any amount kills my weight loss. I am one of those people that have to stay away from it in all forms (in cheeses like cream cheese, brie cheese, half & half, sour cream, etc.) I always know if I have had anything with even a drop of cream in it, as the scale automatically jumps up 1-2 pounds then takes a week or so to come back down. Simply not worth it. :nonoMindykins
