  • Riddle me this..

    I started at 225 induction for almost a month I am at 206 being at 206 - 208 for two weeks now, Not cheating at all except that christmas thing but nothing since then but won't go lower than that but I keep losing waist size and everything around..how is that possible?
    highest 230 ---- started atkins------current 175 lbs
    July 2009 ---------12/20/2009 ---------03/18/2010
    <------------------>

    I started atkins in late november but every other week just sort of fell off the wagon and was not working out..late december I started to really follow it and added the gym from november to december I only lost like 7 lbs not following it right..from december to march 18 I lost 50 lbs give or take depending what mood my scale is on lol.

    It's one of the great Atkins mysteries ... you can lose inches but not weight.

    One of the other mysteries is how you can lose weight but not inches.

    I would suggest moving to OWL.

      Psssst!! Summerdressgirl, I just have to respond to you!! Try livin' that riddle for SIX MONTHS!!! It's okay, I promise. That stagnant scale is teaching us lessons. Suddenly, that tape measure is OH SO ATTRACTIVE!! It's like your best friend changes from the scale to the tape measure. I've had to give myself MANY pep talks on this very issue.

      #1...Thank goodness we DON'T walk around with the number of our weight on our foreheads every day, so truly no one knows that number but US!!!

      #2...The tape measure shows inches lost! That means our bodies are SHRINKING. We are getting smaller and that's what brings about a smaller size in clothes. The world sees the size of our body....not the result on the scale.

      #3...There comes a point where the body just has to adjust to this new WOE/WOL. It just does. Rarely does it decide to do this little maneuver at our perceived perfect timing. I can't think of one time it happened to me and I though, oh, okay this is cool right now!!

      #4...I find it usually happens at a time we feel is pivotal for us. I am soooooooooo close to goal. Can't seem to get there!! You are sooooooooo close to onederland and it seems like you're just not getting there!

      #5...I always reminded myself no matter how much my current weight bothered me, I ALWAYS looked much better at any weight while on Atkins than any other WOE. Period! I always wear a smaller size low carbing than I would being the same weight following any other WOE. Look much better too! Feel better? No question!

      Okay, so those are just a few of my rebuttals I preach to myself when I get discouraged by not being able to solve the riddle. There is no clear cut solution....other than this. If you don't hang in there, you'll never get that result you're yearning for! Hang in there! Sometimes we just have to learn to appreciate where we are before we get to clear the next hurdle. Think of it as hurdle me this... We're gonna make it!!
