  • patient no more... getting frustrated

Hey all.. I have tried to be really patient with myself but, I am starting to get really frustrated ... I have been stuck in the 180's for nearly 5 months..
i even revised my diet and started to use a program that counts every calorie and carb i eat..and even keeping the carb count low 20g or less.. and crazy excersie.. i walk and hike like a maniac and still cannot get the scale to dip below 180 for more than a minute.
What is going on, and WHY... why can i not seem to loose any more? Help!

It is possible that you are not eating enough especially if you are exercising like crazy.

I understand your frustration as I was one frustrated loser getting those last few pounds off.
did you check chapter 15 of your DANDR and see if you have a medical reason?

Have you have your body fat measured to see if that exercising like a maniac has added more lean tissue weight to your body and you are morphing? for my last 8 pounds to goal weight I did that I was bemoaning that I was only losing 3 pounds total for 6 months until I had my body fat calculated and realized I had less then 15% total body fat and had been adding muscle weight to mask the body fat loss. Even though Fitday and the BMI said I was overweight I was actually underweight at 168 pounds

Have you been following the plan correctly all these 5 months? Or did you have a cheat here and there?

even keeping the carb count low 20g or less
Keeping the carbs low is not always the solution. Some people discover that they lose weight better when increasing their carbs and adding more vegetables to their menus.

The nutrients in vegetables are good for your metabolism. Without proper nutrition (and this also includes calories), you will slow down your metabolism... thus your weight loss will slow down or even stop.

You might want to post a complete menu, including quantities and net carbs for all foods. We could take a look and make some suggestions.

oh and does your program track your nutriants too like vits and minerals? being low in vits and minerals can cause a chain reaction that will slow your metabolism.

for example if you are low in calcium your body will generate a chemical to pull calcuim out of the stored areas ( that would be the bones) and that chemical will interfer with your thyroid hormones which every cell in the body needs for metabolism. thus the body slows down and concerves energy. that is where all the milk your diet science came from.

I know it's frustrating but YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS and start losing again. Follow 2big's advise as she went through the same issue.
I think the hardest issue is the frustration you get when you don't lose, so don't let it get you down....
If you don't already start to use fitday again, as carb creep can be a problem when we have done this diet forever.
Go back to the rung you were when you lost last.

what foods have you been eating?

it says your on rung 8 maybe try going back to rung 1 and see if that helps

i know when i added these 10 net carb whole wheat rung 9 wraps to my diet my weight 100% stalled for months till i took em out

not all carbohydrates are the same some are really bad

                    your foods look good

maybe the sour cream and cottage cheese you may be allergic too try testing them and seeing how they make you feel

and maybe the macadamia nuts could be causeing a problem

Lacy, you are doing so awesome!!! 65 pounds, OMG!!

It's been going slow for me too for the last several months. But I know that I did some cheats. And it's good to see that I keep getting back on plan & don't end up gaining out of control.

This is our way of eating now & even if it doesn't seem like we're losing, we are losing inches (maybe not in the places we're measuring!) & we're getting healthy & feeling better & better! So really Lacypie, it's ALL GOOD!!!! And you are such an inspiration to us all!!!

Thank you so much Michelle, and you are right im sure.. i just measured myself and indeed i am still loosing inches.. and like someone else suggested that i have put on more muscle and i know that is true... so.. i just need to keep doing what i am doing and know that it is working.. and that i have this fantastic resource to turn to in times that i need a little push or just a better perspective... thanks again to you and and everyone on here..and yes.. i should feel damn good and proud as i have come a long way and am still going strong.. I have Changed my life... and even though i am going through a tough time right now, i have learned new coping methods instead of filling the void with garbage.... and i am over half way to goal, i guess i should expect a little resistance. ... I will keep at it..

                          That could be the problem.

                          Undereating rarely works with Atkins.

You're not eating at 10-12 times your current body weight.

                            Undereating isn't productive with Atkins.
