  • Yerba Mate

I have been drinking yerba mate for years now and recently lost about 25lbs on the adkins diet. I'm wondering however if anyone knows how many carbs are in the tea. I drink about: minimum 18oz or 36oz at the very most sometimes every day, if not 3 - 4 times a week.

Does anyone else drink Yerba Mate in here?

    More info:
    Yerba Mate Brand: Rosamonte
    Sweetner: Splenda

I would think it's like any other tea. I haven't seen it around here but does your label give you any indication?

Congrats on the 25 pounds, that is amazing

I've read online that it's 15 to 20 calories and 1 to 2 carbs per serving.

Do you know how much is a serving? 8 oz?

          Re: Yerba Mate

          I love yerbamate AND dandyblend.

My container of Yerba Mate Royale instant tea has NO carbs listed on it! It contains only yerbamate & stevia. But I did find this online:

Q: Is yerba mate low carb?

A: Yes. Yerba mate is naturally very low in carbohydrate content. Four carbohydrates have been identified in yerba mate in trace amounts--sucrose, raffinose, glucose and levulose. However, a typical serving of yerbamate contains only 13 mg of carbohydrates. According to the FDA, any food with less than 1000mg or 1 gram of carbs can be listed as having no carbs.

Guess I won't be drinking that any time soon since I'm starting Induction on Monday! Although I am not sure what a 'typical' serving is. What exact measurement IS '1 carb' anyhow? A mg or gram or what?

My Dandyblend has 1 carb per tsp. It's a wonderful healthy instant drink which can be consumed hot or cold. It has extracts of roasted barley, rye, chicory root, dandelion root and beetroot. No caffeine, no gluten. Very healthful and delish. YUM.

It can't be 0 carbs, not really.
