  • Advice to add fat not protein

    Hi all...
I'm eating a LOT of protein on this woe because I'm very active and very hungry. I would like advice on ideas when I'm hungry and already at my carb level, or close to it. What can I eat to add fat without a lot more protein? If I add a lot of butter, etc to veggies, then my calories get real high without feeling full. My percentages are right on in fitday, so maybe I just add what I regularly eat (protein with fat) and just eat more?

My protein is a bit high on there, and my fat a bit low. I reverse that without a lot more carbs AND the satiety of protein. Tricky one!
    THANK YOU\

AND WHAT ABOUT XANTHAN GUM? It's listed last on dressings with no sugar or anything bad...need I ditch?

So do you have the numbers? How much protein are you currently eating? How much fat? How many carbs? How many calories?

With me it is a balance act. Most days I find it.

Xanthan gum is OK. It is a thickener.

Atkins is a high FAT diet, not a high protein diet. In fact, eating too much protein can derail your weight loss, because according to Dr. Atkins, excess dietary protein is ultimately converted to body fat.

The good news is that you already realize you need more fat, not protein! Look to things like eggs cooked in butter, and home made hollandaise with your ribeye steak. Fishes and white meat chicken tend to be lower in fat, so look to bacon and other foods natually higher in fat that don't add protein-- cheese (kept to four ounces daily) will add a lot of fat as well.

I also use fitday to keep track of fat and found I vary between 73%-80% and am very happy and satisfied there. If I get down to the levels you're describing I become depressed and almost pass out.

Xanthan gum is used in ThickenThin/Not Starch and is def induction friendly. I use it in gravies and soups and love it!
