  • Any recommendations for a good Wii exercise game???

I got a Wii for Xmas, wow!! Our Mother in law got one for us....we have the sports game with bowling, boxing, tennis, etc...And the boxing is probably the best workout.

However I want to take it a step further and buy a game JUST for fitness and exercise...maybe something that starts off small and works with you to build up to harder exercises, something that makes you commit to playing it daily perhaps???

Any ideas? I think I saw mention of a biggest loser game, or the Wii Fit? Anyone have those and use them????

Re: Any recommendations for a good Wii exercise game???

I highly recommend both of them. I got the Fit when I purchased the Wii and recently bought the Biggest Loser game. I have gotten quite a bit of use out of the Fit, and I actually went and bought a 3" platform for the balance board to increase the intensity of the step aerobics. I have only had a chance to mess around with the Biggest Loser game and usually manage to make it through the warm up for beginners, but I am getting better. A good thing about the Biggest Loser is that is has 3 diffent levels, plus challenges. The Fit loses its intensity after a while of doing it, but I haven't had the opportunity to try out the Fit plus which is what they are selling now so it might be better.

I'm not sure. I would assume the balance board is the same for both the Fit and Fit Plus, but not certain. It is made by Everlast and is a 3" platform for the balance board. Everlast also makes 2lb dumbells and boxing gloves to be used with the Wii.

I love Wii Fit/Fit Plus too. I also have EA Sports Active. There is an expansion to that game too but I haven't bought it yet. Honestly? I like Wii Fit Plus the best but Active gives me more of a workout I think. Wii fit has more of a fun factor.

I know there are more games out there. Maybe check on Amazon and see what people are saying about the different games. My other opinion is stay away from the Yoga game (yawn).

I also recommend Wii Fit Plus (you have to buy the balance board if you don't have one to make it work). For physically active FUN, I love Sports Resort.

Planning to get Just Dance and Walk It Out maybe this week or next.

EA Sports Active is great but it's still a little too advanced for me.

My darling wife pulled a butt muscle on bowling last year. We have Wii Fit Plus and there is sooooo much variety that we love it.

Ok looks like its unanimous....(sp?) the Wii Fit Plus seems to beat out everything else...I like the variety options everyone is talking about....and the fact it can keep track of your stats. That's cool!!

I looked on Amazon and can find the wii fit plus game for $20, but the balance board I can't seem to find on it's own, together the board and game are $99, too steep for me right now....

Is it worth getting the game without the balance board for now? Until I find some on sale or used???

No, you CANNOT use the Wii Fit game without the balance board. The ~$20 Wii Fit Plus game only is an upgrade from the original Wii Fit and for those who bought the original game and balance board.

Might be too late for this input, but I LOVE EA Sports Active. If you put it on the intense setting you really get a great workout that is fun and challenging where as I find Wii Fit is too light for me. I guess it depends what you're looking for, but the 30 day challenge is keeping me very motivated.

I've gotta second the recommendation for EA Sports Active. The 30 Day Challenge is great! It's usually 2 days of workouts/1 day rest. Most workouts are 20-30 minutes long. Good variety of activities, cardio & resistance. You will sweat! Really customizable, since you set up a profile with your age, weight, activity level. I think there are 3 levels of intensity also. Whichever level you choose, the workouts get progressively more challenging as the month progresses. And no balance board required, though it will work with one if you have it.

Now, I just need to start a new 30 Day Challenge! LOL Haven't used it in a while, and look where it got me!

Oh geez..bummer I can't get just get the game on it's own. why is everything so expensive!!! Well I guess I'll save my pennies!!! By the time I get the Wii Fit Plus spring will be here and I'll be outside.

So I'll work towards that...in the meantime maybe I'll just get a used copy of the EA Sports Active. I see it's designed to be used with our without the board and reviews on amazon say it's good without it. Hmmm, we'll see..

thanks for all the input everyone

wow good reviews. i also have the wii and thought about getting the wii fit for the kids because i just couldnt see myself getting a good workout through a video game. i wanted to try boxing for 40min yesterday instead of my 2 mile walk but it just doesnt seem right. maybe i just have to try it out and see if it really does work. by the way isnt there a weight limit on the balance board?
