Anyone see the new Atkins Commercials?

I saw one for the first time tonight before Grey's Anatomy. It offers a starter kit complete with bars and shakes for induction. Whoever is running that company should read the book. They won't fire the moron because he's probably making them money at the expense of his brand name. Dr. A is just rolling over in his grave right now, I can feel it. Maybe that's what can do for a job after I retire.

I doubt very much if Atkins.com is "sponsoring" a website that it views as a "wannabe" Atkins site.

I feel sorry for the thousands of people that will get sucked in & buy that starter kit. I hope some of them find us so we can help help steer them onto the true Atkins path

Yeah, I received mine the other day. I gave the bars to my husband and the only thing I wanted was the Carb counter booklet. It is sad that they are destroying the name of the original Atkins. They are trying to get people hooked on the bars so that they will keep buying them..and they aren't even allowed on Induction. I guess the people that want to take Atkins seriously will read the book, so they know every detail about Atkins. Not to mention, the book has taught me things about vitamins and diabetes that I never knew.

Geez, that is just such a shame - it will just make it another fad diet full of frankenfoods. And anyone who does stick to it (and bars make me crazy for sugar) and it doesn't work will go around saying Atkins is rubbish. Makes it harder for us to defend the WOL!

I am sick and tired of dumb diets and then being lectured about how I'm going to die on Atkins - somehow they've managed to put these two things together!

The problem with the marketing of those products is that people eat them, hate them or end up on the toilet, gain, bloat and claim Atkins doesn't work because the frankenfoods made them ill.

They see the marketing get rich quick scheme of Atkins Corp and assume THAT is the diet. And Lawd knows, everyone wants a simple fix that doesn't require cooking, shopping for quality foods and going without sweets.

I got an email 2 days ago with "new" recipes for Atkins....I wasn't impressed with the ingredients in phase 1. I keep unsubscribing and sending emails telling them I don't want their version of Dr. Atkins plan -- they are making the public opinion of Atkins worse than it is to begin with.

I remember when the low carb craze was in full-swing and products had that red A stamped on them. People on Induction were eating Entennman's low carb Atkins approved cookies on Induction because.......they were Atkins approved. Nevermind that the fine print on the boxes said they were only approved for Pre-Maintenance and Maintenance or OWL, Pre-Main. and Main. It had a red "A" and that was that.

And I also remember the Atkins literature during that time. The sample menues included some kind of Atkins food--low carb bread, low carb snack bar, low carb chocolate, etc. And we had people coming here posting threads like "NOT LOSING---HELP!!!!". When we reviewed their menues, they were eating that Atkins junk. And when we would tell them, don't eat that Atkins junk, invariably they would reply, "But why? They are Atkins approved....see the big red "A"? If they aren't good for us, why would Dr. ATkins put his name on them and sell them and say they were okay to use???"

It was a big headache........
