    Re: re cholesterol

Have you gotten any cholesterol tests performed? In my opinion, it's easiest to refute those scare tactics with hard evidence. I know that my cholesterol levels have improved greatly since I've begun this WOE. Another good way to dispel myths is to simply ask, "Oh my! Where did you read that, because I should read that too..." I guarantee whatever they give you as proof will be ridiculous.

        Re: re cholesterol

For anyone reading this who is just starting Atkins, it would better to have your readings done now and think of them being a start point, resulting from your previous eating regime, then get another set done in maybe 6 months so you will get a better idea of any trends.

As you have already been on Atkins a while it will just show what they are now and you will have no idea if Atkins has made them better or worse than when you started.

However at least then you will have a record of what they are after a period of eating Atkins and so any future tests will start to show a trend.

          Re: re cholesterol

Our local grocery store had some nice ladies there doing cholesterol counts. They said mine was low and acted surprised (no doubt because my weight would say I have high numbers...). Bless them and bless Atkins.

Dr. Michael Eades' blog has excellent information about this. He is the co-author of Protein Power. This particular post will give you insight on the connection between the low-carb diet, insulin, and cholesterol.
