  • Not overweight..

I'm 5'4 and 135 pounds, technically not underweight. But I would love to lose about 5 - 10 pounds. Will Atkins work for me, and if so, do you have any suggestions for me?

    Will Atkins work for me
Since Atkins is a way of eating for life, not only a diet, whether or not Atkins will "work" for you will not depend on the amount you have to lose.

I think I replied to the other parts here: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...899-hello.html

For me Atkins is part of the plan to make permanent lifestyle changes to improve my health and well-being... mainly because trying different diets just to lose weight has never worked for me.

Sure you can lose ten pounds on Atkins just like any other diet. I would encourage you to look first, however, at what daily choices are contributing to your perceived weight gain. In other words, perhaps just increasing your activity and watching what you eat a little more closely could be all the change you would need to make.

        Re: Not overweight..

Welcome! I'm not "overweight" either but this way of eating has CHANGED my life. I am no longer a slave to cravings and have learned to record what "works" for me (mood, portions, cravings, etc). My skin, hair and nails are better and I'm finally in control.

I find that to lose the last 5-10 pounds, I (and this is MY experience only, not necessarily for you) have to count calories and restrict them. I'm losing fat on this diet but it's slow going and my body wants to put it RIGHT back when I let up just a little. I have to be diligent, otherwise those extras are RIGHT back.
But because I feel so much better, I just keep experimenting with it all....Good luck

May I ask when you count calories, typically how many do you eat a day (as opposed to before you started counting). Thanks!

I first did this after I had my son and had great success. I went back to my pre pregnancy weight. During the holidays though I got carried away and am doing induction to get back on tract. I agree with ff11
