I know I know...it's horrible to let them go but I know there are people out there who need them more than I do....I mastered everything and now since I'm weight training and hopefully later on bodybuilding so my diet isn't strictly Atkins as before....But I do eat a high protein diet......and only Complex carbs (good carbs).....I learned so much and this is where my weight loss began, with Atkins.

It helped me so much when I first started out.....

        >>I mastered everything>>

        Again ... wow.

Even 4+ years on maintenance and I can't say that!

        >>I do eat a high protein diet..>>

You know Atkins isn't "high protein" though.

        >>I learned so much>>

And you don't think there's more to learn?

Re: Giving away my Atkins Books...

i do find when your working out hard its nicer to eat more protein but going as high as 40% protein in the diet is ok for awhile i find when your working out hard and not eating much carbohydrates

the extra glucose from the protein helps your muscles

or you can just eat more vegetables and get the glucose from them

but if your not working out that extra glucose could cause weight loss stalls so unless your working out atleast an hour a day of hard power lifting muscle workouts id stay at medium protein

a chicken egg is 61% fat, 37% protein and 1-2% carbs but i think it's protein level is in between medium - high

i don't think eating a diet of up to 40% protein for along period of time would be a good idea though

Well I tried the link... evidently I need to put some of my own books up for give-away if I want to get a book. They're MINE I tell you MINE!!! LOL

I can't find my copy of DANDR and thought it'd be cool to have it. If I pay the postage would you want to send it my way?

Umm, with 78#s more to lose I don't think so. And you haven't "mastered" Maintenance yet or even all of the OWL rungs. You might wish you still had your book to refer to as you get closer to goal so you would know how to maintain all your efforts.

Kudos to you for mastering the supplement section...I still refer to that a lot.

Re: Giving away my Atkins Books...

I have had my book for 7 years. It is well worn/loved/used. I almost got rid of it a few years ago. Just the other day I was thinking I am so glad I held on to it! Sometimes I need it for a refresher, sometimes I reread it to motivate myself. Sometimes I just plain forget stuff. Plus, I am just attached to it.

                      Just a thought.

Re: Giving away my Atkins Books...

I don't get it. I really don't get how this board works.

The OP specifically said she's not on Atkins anymore. Why try to dissuade her from that choice? I know you guys are honor-bound to give advice only according to DANDR 2002, but...she didn't ask for advice. She didn't ask for opinions. She just said, in a nutshell, "Here's a book-swapping link I found if anyone wants to sign up." So what if she claims to have "mastered" the Atkins diet when she hasn't? She's already off the diet anyway, so why upbraid her for it?

This is not meant as a slam, because I learn so much from lurking here and having things explained in great detail. I am just really puzzled by the responses to this thread.

It is passion. I think. Passion is good. It keep us going.
I think it is great to recycle and give away things you are done with. I hope the books get to a really good home and helps someone a lot.

You are posting on a public forum. Don't do it if you don't want advice/opinions. Last time I looked, this was an Atkins forum. I have this habit of talking about Atkins related things on here.

sorry, its one of THOSE days.
