    how many calories are suitable whilst on atkins?

    well do not count calories while on this diet. it is High fat low carb and if you try a lowfat/calorie version.. it will not work.

      Well, it depends.

      While on Atkins we don't necessarily count calories in the begining. We count carbs.

      Have you read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 version?
      53/female/241lbs.

        right.. I highly recommend reading DANDR.. I made that mistake in the beginning not reading it. as long as you eat liberally and not leisurely.. youll be fine

            why don't you use www.fitday.com ?

            Type in the current weight and height, and it will give you a minimal number of calories to eat, just to survive ie for your basal metabolism. It even calculates for you any additional activities you do, and shows how much calories you need.

            It doesn't mean you have to reach that number or that you have to worry if you go over - it's just a guideline. I find that I eat much less than the recommended number of calories in one day.

            Also, if you're training and taking measurements, www.mybodycomp.com is a good site for helping you with calculations.
