I'm new to the site. I was on the Induction Phase for 20 days - today. I lost 2lbs. I weight 157. I'm wondering why I haven't lost more. I've heard stories where people are losing 10lbs, plus - in the Induction. I followed the book. I'm wondering if I should move to the next rung, whatever that is. Does anybody have a list of all nine rungs, so I can follow? Pleaseeeee.

    Welcome, Laura!

    I followed the book.
What book? It certainly wasn't the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution.

    I lost 2lbs. I weight 157.
How much weight do you have to lose?

If you post a typical menu, with quantities and net carbs for all foods, we'll take a look.

        I have to 2002 book edition. I've been on the 20 grams a day Induction. I'm 5'4, 157. I should be at 135 -140.

Any suggestions? Should I UP the carbs in the next Phase? Today is day 20!

It's in your book. Chapter 14.

Should I UP the carbs in the next Phase?
Yes, you increase your net carbs with 5 net carbs from Induction vegetables.

And you don't add a new food more than three times a week.

          Have you read Chapter 14?

            Typical daily menu:

2 hard boil eggs w/2 slices of bacon (might have 2 oz of cheese instead of bacon, every other day) - one decaf coffee w/one splenda
2 cups of salad veggies w/vinigar and oil
1 cup of brocoli or spinich or brussell sprouts w/steak or chicken or porkchop - one cup of decaf coffee w/one splenda
1 cup of decaf tea w/one splenda before I go to bed
All day WATER... 5 or 6 (16oz) bottles

            I counted the carbs, it's like 19 - 20.

              What kind of salad veggies?

If that's a typical menu, you are undereating... unless the amount of meat you eat for dinner is huge. How many calories have you been consuming, on average?

                    As for meat:
I eat a steak (which is not normal for me)
I eat a half of cornish hen
                    1 eat a large porkchop

I've never eaten like this before. I think it too much food.

Avocado and tomatoes are not salad vegetables in DANDR 2002.

Avocado is a Special Category food and does not count as a vegetable at all.

You don't have to eat steak if you don't want to.

                          Hi Laura,

Have you looked at using www.fitday.com to help you track?

This is listed in your book, Chapter 11-the Chapter About Induction... Also the stickie-

There is a list of "SALAD VEGGIES" and "OTHER VEGGIES"

                          Salad Vegetables
You can have two to three cups per day of:

                          alfalfa sprouts
                          daikon
                          mushrooms
                          arugula
                          endive
                          parsley
                          bok choy
                          escarole
                          peppers
                          celery
                          fennel
                          radicchio
                          chicory
                          jicama
                          radishes
                          chives
                          lettuce
                          romaine lettuce
                          cucumber
                          mache
                          sorrel
These salad vegetables are high in phytonutrients and provide a good source of fiber.

                          Other Vegetables
You can have one cup per day of these veggies if salad does not exceed two cups. The following vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables:

                          artichoke
                          celery root
                          pumpkin
                          artichoke hearts
                          rhubarb
                          asparagus
                          chard
                          sauerkraut
                          bamboo shoots
                          collard greens
                          scallions
                          dandelion
                          snow peas
                          bean sprouts
                          dandelion greens
                          spaghetti squash
                          beet greens
                          eggplant
                          spinach
                          broccoli
                          hearts of palm
                          string or wax beans
                          broccoli rabe
                          kale
                          summer squash
                          brussels
                          kohlrabi
                          tomato
                          bean sprouts
                          leeks
                          turnips
                          cabbage
                          okra
                          water chestnuts
                          cauliflower
                          onion
                          zucchini
If a vegetable, such as spinach or tomato, cooks down significantly, it must be measured raw so as not to underestimate its carb count.

Thank you - I've seen all those other veggie (don't really care for them) does it really matter if I use avacado and tomatoes in my daily salad if I am still within the 20grams a day?
