  • Really struggling. Need some help!

I wrote before that I was in a stall trying to go into rung 1. Well now I have officially gained 5lbs. What is most discouraging is that I am doing everything I am supposed to be doing! Once I add more than 25g of carbs I begin to gain weight. I've never heard anyone refer to gaining weight on Atkins. (I am aware this could be water retention so I am trying not to freak out.) When I drop back down to 20g I stall but I at least don't gain any weight. I haven't cheated. The majority of the carbs are veggies (broccoli and spinach.) I've tried cutting out things that may be problematic like heavy cream and artifical sweetener to no avail.

I exercise every day. My calorie intake is normal (Between 1300-1500 a day.) I'm just not sure what to do. Also, my ketosis strips read negative unless I am under 20g and then they are always only trace. Has anyone else had a weight gain issue?

Motivation is not something I lack. I have no issue whatsoever sticking to a diet and I have never been an over-eater. (Most people I talk to seem to think this is the issue, but I am actually eating less on Atkins than I was pre-atkins.) I have been doing atkins for months now and have seen no weight loss since the first week and am now back to right where I started. Pretty frustrating. But I haven't given up. I am confident that this is the best diet for me and I do feel more energetic and healthier on it. I just wish I could go up the ladder without stall or weight gain.

I am willing to take any suggestions! Do any of you have an induction menu that worked well for you that you'd be willing to share? I'd love to know how those who have had success started adding carbs. (What things and how often.) I have read the book through and through but talking to others who have done it is what really seems to help me. The only thing I added in rung 1 was brussel sprouts. I cut these out as of monday and instead am sticking to the strict induction menu with 5g more carbs from broccoli or spinach which I've been eating since the beginning. 25g total carbs per day. I will stick to this all week and see if I lose any of the 5lbs I've gained.

    Thanks!

maybe you have lost lots of fat and gained muscle? do you look alot better? did you measure yourself?

when i started atkins i whent from about 330 too 230 sure i 100% stalled at one point from eating these thin whole wheat wraps but as soon as i cut them out i then started loseing again and got to 230

but anways at 230 i still did not look good but then i started going to the gym and really for the next 2 years of going to the gym almost everyday i stay'd the same 230 pounds however i must have lost another 50 pounds of fat and gained 50 pounds of muscle cause i look and feel ALOT better

so the point is as long as you look and feel really good your total weight does not matter

but also il admit i did have problems on all of the rungs and even foods like spagetti squash or too much cheese or to many tomatos could cause me weight loss stalls

        >>What is most discouraging is that I am doing everything I am supposed to be doing!>>

        Except for moving to OWL!

        >>nce I add more than 25g of carbs I begin to gain weight. >>

How much time do you give yourself before you "panic" and drop down again?

        >>I've never heard anyone refer to gaining weight on Atkins.>>

It could happen. It's possible if you're eating above your CCLL. However, it's a rare person who can only eat 20 nc.

        >>My calorie intake is normal (Between 1300-1500 a day.) >>

Maybe that's not enough for you.

        >>my ketosis strips read negative unless I am under 20g >>

So? They're not that reliable ... and they don't tell you if you're doing Atkins properly. Get rid of them.

        >>I have been doing atkins for months now and have seen no weight loss since the first week and am now back to right where I started.>>

Maybe that's the weight your body wants to be at?

        >> I am willing to take any suggestions! >>

        Get off Induction.

        >>'d love to know how those who have had success started adding carbs.>>

What anyone else ate or is eating doesn't matter to your journey.

Are broccoli and spinach the only vegetables you eat?
