  • new research about sitting

    Came across this today. It's common sense but now there's some research behind the idea that sitting for too long causes weight and health problems. It's a good reason to make sure that you are getting up once an hour and moving around. I was especially interested in the part where your daily trip to the gym may be essentially cancelled out by the 8 hours sitting at a desk job. Getting up and moving around every hour might be just the thing to stop a stall or help retrain a body to be more of a fat burning machine. Worth a shot! p.s. the two articles are essentially the same but are both short and worth reading...the Tehran Times articles talks a little more about enzymes involved...

    I figured we are doing so well at drinking enough water, eating the right foods, and exercising that breaking up long bouts of sitting ought to be easy!

      Darn now I have to stop reading around here, get up from this chair and move (NO not to the cupboard or fridge - the other direction)

        Heaviest weight - 403 lbs. (2007)
        April 1, 2008 - 387 lbs. (This is when I initially started to lose weight…but was not on Atkins at this point)
        Atkins start weight – 347 lbs. (July 19, 2008 – began Atkins)
        1st major goal met -----100 lbs. lost as of Oct 2, 2008 - Hit 300 lbs. on this day – From April 1-08 when I initially begin to lose weight.
        2nd major goal met - 151 lbs. lost as of Jan 13, 2009 - Hit 249 lbs. on this day.
        3rd major goal met - Wed, May 13-09 - Reached losing 200 lbs. in just over a year and a couple of months.
        4th major goal met – Reached “Onederland” June 6-09 – 198 lbs.
        5th major goal met - My 1 yr. Atkins anniversary - Weighing 184 lbs. this day
        Current weight – 168.8 lbs.
        Goal weight - 150 – 160

          just sit on your fitness ball and workout while you are on ADBB you can work your core muscles to begin with as you attempt to balance on your ball. then when you master that you can lift your feet and do some more. Once you get really good you can even do crunches while the pages download
