  • How does my food look so far?

Hi all! I just started yesterday and have yet to get the book. I am so happy I found this site. TONS of GREAT information! I read lots yesterday and am trying to make sure I do induction right. To be honest with you I didnt think I would need to know so much. So here is my food so far for today, please let me know if I am doing any no nos and what I should be improving on.
    Breakfast
4 large scrambled eggs with 2 tbs heavy cream 2 thin slices american cheese (I didnt weigh it because I just got a scale), 2 LARGE cups of coffee with heavy cream approximate total heavy cream about 1oz with eggs too, 3 sausage links. If I am doing my net carb counting right that totals about 7 Net grams of Carbs.
    Lunch
Small salad, romaine lettuce with 2 tbs cezar dressing, approximately 8 oz grilled chicken with 2 tbs seasame ginger dressing, 1/2 avacado, 4 1/2 boiled mushrooms. Total net carbs 9
Snack Hunts sugar free jello Total net carbs 1 (can I have these while on induction?).
    Dinner
4 king crab legs with 1 1/2 tbs butter, 4 large shrimp, large salad, romaine lettuce 2 tbs cezar dressing, Hunts sugar free jello. Total net carbs 2

If something looks really off please tell me. How does it look so far?
I am about 50 oz into my 64 oz of water for the day.

The American cheese concerns me - what's in it?

I'd ditch the Jello - it's junk and you deserve better than junk. There's a mock pumpkin pie recipe floating around here that's legal for Induction and supposed to be fabulous. (ETA: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-friendly.html - here it is)

Speaking of Induction List Vegetables - are 9 or more net carbs coming from your current selection of vegetables (the romaine and mushrooms)? If not, please consider broadening your consumption of veg - like the pumpkin, which will provide dessert AND give you vital nutrients that you need to build an effective fat-burning machine.

Other than that - you might consider using FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal to log each day's food intake - it's very handy.

First thing I would add more vegetables. A couple handfuls of lettuce doesn't have much nutrition. Throw in some good veggies to pump up those salads.

Jello... is pretty much empty calories. I mean yes, it's "legal", but one thing induction enables us to do is break our addiction to sweet foods. Now that I'm in OWL I usually turn to berries or melon for that sweet fix. I don't climb the walls with cravings for more after, fills me up, nourishes my body. One thing I love about Atkins is that I have learned to make wiser choices about what goes into my body... and what does not.

Supplements... I do hope you're taking a good multivitamin. When I put my foods into FitDay during induction I found that to make a fully nutritious day I needed to take supplements. I still take them to stay on top of things.

Most importantly, welcome to the boards. I find that posting frequently helps reaffirm my resolve to be good to myself and eat right.

        Hi Deb,

Take a look at the ingredients for the sesame ginger and caesar dressing. Make sure there is no sugar in the ingredients. How many carbs are listed on the nutrition label?

Don't worry, after a while you will get use to this and it will be easier. It is a little overwhelming to everyone the first few days.

Something does seem off though. DInner for example is listed as two net carbs.

YOu've already stated the jello has 1 carb. The dressing probably has at least one carb. That seems to mean you are counting the crab, shrimp and salad as 0 net carbs?
