  • Need motivation,please..

    Hello everybody,
i was hoping if someone could share their experience about the weight loss on atkins. I have gained about 50pounds during pregnancy and gave myself a year to loose it. Well my son is 3 and half years old and i lost maybe like 15 pounds. I'm about 190-195 and would really like to loose the weight by summer. Hoping it's doable?
Anyway, i'm going away in couple of months and would like to loose some weight by then. I would appreciate any input/experience on how much weight is doable to loose in about couple of months if stay on induction?
I guess need some motivation. I'm so unhappy with my body right now and for the last almost 4 years :-(
Thank you so much for your time to read or answer my post.

    Welcome,

If you go through the hundreds of threads you will see many stories of member's weight loss. Go to the search area and put in the keywords you are looking for. Check out the journals for sure.

As far as looking for motivation, we can give you support, but no one can motivate you but yourself.
You either want it or you don't. But we will all be here to help you.

As far as how much weight loss is doable, that varies with everyone, we are all different. Depends on a lot of factors. Are you reading the book, and have you read the stickies? You can also look at other people's signatures, a lot of them show their mini goals and when they were met.

All the stuff posted below should help you.

This is where you start---“Read the Book”---this is the Version followed on the ADBB.

By planning to stay on Induction for months only to lose more weight, you are treating Atkins as a race and a quick fix.

Atkins is a way of eating for life. The most important part of the journey is not losing weight -- everyone can do that -- but maintaining... and abusing Induction won't teach you how to make Atkins a lifestyle.

I'd suggest you read the book.

I think I have been on the "I would like to lose weight" stage quite a few times. Many who comes here are there but when it comes to actually working it .... So you are luckily a step ahead of that by realizing this will need some serious motivation and commitment. But you can do it. We have some wonderful successful people here. Check out the celebration forum and the before and after pic forum. Those places are good motivation for those down moments.

            Re: Need motivation,please..

I was in the same situation as you were. I was pregnant 4 years ago with twins, and a high risk pregnancy. As a result of little movement and bedrest, I put 100 pounds on. Due to how ill they were, they both passed away an hour after they were born. One month after I decided that I needed to get this weight off so that my husband and I could try again. I worked out like a demon, but ignored the diet portion, got nowhere and after 6 months and 10 pounds, I gave up. Looking back now, I know my head wasn't in the game. I wasn't ready mentally or physically. Last year I remember watching a show that Oprah had about why are you overweight. What is the real reason? Yes, I have been fighting my weight ever since I had turned 12 years of age, and yes, in order to keep the weight off, I have to exercise, and yes I put on 100 pounds from pregnancy, but what was the real reason? My realization was that yes, in my head I wanted to get pregnant again and not miss out on the opportunity to have children, but in my heart I was scared to get pregnant again in case I were to go through the same situation again.
Finally, last May, I started Atkins, and the weight began to fall off, but you have to listen to the people on these boards, and do your research. Staying on extended induction is not the answer for everyone. Even people who are extremely obese don't stay on the extended induction very long. You have to experiment and find out what is right for you. I may have lost a lot of weight initially, but now I am back down to a slower rate.
This for me is not a "quick fix", it has become a way of life, and it works. I have tried many different "diets", paid a lot of money for them, but this is the one that seems to work, and make the most sense. Everyone is going to lose weight at a different rate, just like every medication works differently for different people, a glass of wine for one person may put them under the table and for the next person you can see no visible effects.
So, to condense things, my main message is your head has to be in the game, and exercise is very important in the shaping of your body.
Good luck, and I hope that you are ready to do this for you, and not anyone else.

Just a side note, look for posts by Georgiana and Liv, they know their stuff. Georgiana also will call people on their "stuff" and excuses which I like. You can only lie to yourself for so long.
